Hands-On Yoga Adjustments & Alignment Training
Learn to safely adjust students, deepen asana practice, and master the art of hands-on cueing in our small-group Mumbai sessions.
This video shows the dynamic and interactive nature of our training. You'll see our instructors providing real-time, hands-on adjustments for various poses, helping students understand alignment and deepen their practice in a supportive group setting.
Sometimes, all you need is a little lift to rise again. This video captures the essence of partner and instructor assists for backbends like Dhanurasana, showcasing how we build trust and community while working on challenging heart-opening postures.
Here, we are providing a gentle adjustment in Parsvottanasana (Pyramid Pose). The focus is on squaring the hips and lengthening the spine, demonstrating how a light touch can provide crucial feedback for proper alignment.
In this standing forward bend adjustment, we guide the student to release tension in the lower back. This is a key technique for teaching how to read a student's body and offer support that encourages a safe and effective stretch.
Assisting a student in a deep quad stretch. This image shows how we teach you to use your body weight and positioning to provide stable support, allowing the student to relax and find more depth in the pose.
A closer look at an adjustment for Trikonasana (Triangle Pose). We're guiding the student to create more length in the side body and open the chest, a fundamental skill for any yoga teacher to master.
This is a preparatory pose for a backbend, where the instructor is helping the student engage their back muscles correctly. We emphasize building foundational strength to prevent injury in more advanced asanas.
An instructor provides a stabilizing adjustment in a seated spinal twist. This helps the student ground through their sit bones while rotating from the thoracic spine, a key detail for a healthy and effective twist.
Using props is essential for making yoga accessible. Here, we are spotting a student using a headstand bench, ensuring they feel secure as they build the core and shoulder strength required for inversions.
Yoga is for everyone, including gym lovers. This video shows how we guide a student with a strong weightlifting background through their first supported headstand, translating concepts like body engagement from the gym to the mat.
About Hands-On Adjustments & Alignment
We don’t just teach you where to place your hands; we help you understand the why behind every movement. In our Khar West studio, we prioritize small class sizes so you get genuine, one-on-one feedback on your adjustment technique. You’ll learn how to read a student's body mechanics, use props to bridge the gap in mobility, and offer support that builds trust rather than just forcing a shape.
At Rising Loka, we believe that an adjustment is a conversation. It should never be about forcing a body into a shape; it is about providing the stability a student needs to explore their own potential safely.
What We Cover in Our Training
Our workshops are designed for teachers and dedicated practitioners who want to move beyond surface-level instruction. We dive deep into:
- Anatomy & Mechanics: We break down the skeletal structure and muscular engagement required for peak poses like backbends, inversions, and twists. You will learn to identify compensatory patterns in students—like lower back tension in a forward fold—and offer corrections that actually fix the root cause.
- Prop-Based Alignment: Using blocks, straps, and bolsters is not a shortcut; it is a way to make yoga accessible to every body. You will learn to use these tools to create space and provide security for students with varying levels of mobility.
- The Art of Cues: A powerful verbal cue can replace a physical touch. We work on clear, concise language that helps students connect with their breath and movement, reducing the need for constant hands-on intervention.
- Safety & Ethics: Learning to read bodies means knowing when not to touch. We emphasize the boundaries of physical adjustments, ensuring every interaction in our shala is consensual, safe, and supportive.
Whether you are a new teacher refining your voice or a trainer looking to refresh your pedagogy, these sessions are about practical experience. You will pair up, practice on each other, and receive real-time feedback from our senior teachers, including Samiksha Shetty. This isn't just theory—it is about gaining the confidence to hold space for others on their journey.
Rising Loka
We’re Samiksha and the team at Rising Loka, and we believe yoga teaching is about connection, not just demonstration. We’ve stripped away the corporate fluff to focus on the mechanics that actually help you guide others safely. Whether you're a new teacher or looking to sharpen your cues, we’re here to help you find your authentic voice.
