Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling Fundamentals in Kammanahalli
We teach the gentle art from the ground up. We drill fundamental movements like bridging and shrimping until they become second nature, focusing on leverage and control instead of brute force.
I break down the art of the shrimp, one of the most important escape movements in Jiu-Jitsu. Mastering this is key to creating space and dictating the engagement.
A look at our grappling class in action. Students are drilling techniques, learning how to control an opponent on the ground.
About this collection
Many beginners think grappling is about using muscle to overpower the person on top of you. It is actually about geometry. In our sessions, we spend weeks refining basic hip movements like shrimping and bridging. If your hips are not moving efficiently, your guard will crumble regardless of how strong you are.
Why We Focus on Fundamentals
Grappling is a game of human chess. When you walk into our Kammanahalli studio, you will not find people wildly flailing around. You will find students working on the silent, technical details that actually win fights. We focus on the 'gentle art' because it allows a smaller person to neutralize a larger, stronger opponent through leverage.
What You Will Learn
- The Shrimp: This is your primary movement for creating space and escaping bad positions. We drill this until you do not have to think about it.
- The Bridge: We teach you how to use your legs to generate power, essential for bridging out from under mount or side control.
- Guard Retention: You will learn how to keep your legs between you and your opponent, which is the foundational defense in Jiu-Jitsu.
The Training Environment
We train on high-density EVA puzzle mats. Training is done barefoot to ensure proper traction and hygiene. Whether you are aiming to compete in a tournament or just want to learn how to handle yourself on the ground, our environment is built for consistent, daily progress. We keep the groups small enough that you get real feedback on your technique, not just a generic workout. If you are ready to get off the couch and start the grind, this is where you begin.
Raw Combat Fitness
We started Raw Combat Fitness because martial arts is about much more than just throwing punches. We are here to help you build mental resilience and physical strength, regardless of your starting point. You will find us on the mats every day, pushing you to refine your technique and get better.
