Tributes to Kannada Stars & Icons
I create art that celebrates the faces defining Karnataka, from film legends to cultural icons. Whether it is a vibrant digital caricature or clean, minimalist line art, these tributes are my way of keeping their spirit and memory alive.
A colorful caricature of 'Annavaru', Dr. Rajkumar. This portrait is my tribute to the legendary actor, capturing the larger than life personality that made him a 'Varanata' for all of us in Karnataka.
A simple portrait sketch of Puneeth Rajkumar, our beloved Appu sir, framed by a floral garland. It's a small way to remember a person who brought so much joy to all of us.
A black and white family caricature I created of Rishab Shetty and his beautiful family. It's always a pleasure to draw families together, capturing the love and connection between them in a single illustration.
A birthday caricature for the wonderful anchor Anushree. I wanted to capture her vibrant energy and traditional look in this fun, exaggerated style.
This is a caricature tribute to Gagan Srinivas, also known as Dr. Bro. I tried to capture his friendly 'Namaskara Devru' vibe and his identity as a proud Kannadiga traveler.
A minimalist line art portrait of Puneeth Rajkumar. Even with just a single line, his kind smile and simplicity shine through. This is a tribute to Appu sir's unforgettable presence.
A line art drawing of the one and only Dr. Rajkumar, with his title 'Rajakumara' written below. This style is simple but aims to capture the iconic look of the legendary actor.
About this collection
When I draw icons like Dr. Rajkumar or Appu sir, I focus on the small details that made them special—the familiar smile, that one signature pose, or their unique vibe. For these tribute pieces, I prefer working from high-quality reference photos to ensure the likeness is respectful and accurate. If you are looking for a commemorative portrait of a beloved figure, let me know if you prefer a bold, colorful caricature or a subtle, minimalist line art style.
My work is about more than just sketching a face; it is about capturing the essence of someone who holds a place in our hearts. In this collection, you will see tributes to figures across the Kannada spectrum—actors, writers like Kuvempu, and beloved local personalities.
I offer a few different ways to approach these tributes:
- Digital Caricatures: These are bold, expressive, and fun. I use my iPad and Procreate to capture the personality of the subject. They are great for digital use or high-quality prints for your wall.
- Minimalist Line Art: Sometimes, less is more. This style uses a single, continuous line to capture the likeness. It is modern, clean, and looks fantastic as a framed art piece in a living room or office.
- Physical Acrylics: For those who want something grand, I create original, hand-painted canvases. These are physical, one-of-a-kind artworks that bring texture and permanence to a tribute.
Everything I create is hand-drawn. I do not use filters or automated apps. Because these are personal tributes, I am happy to discuss specific elements you might want to include, such as background colors that match a theme or subtle props that tell a story. If you have a specific icon in mind or a family member you want to honor with a similar artistic touch, send me a message. I am based in Bengaluru and work with clients across India, ensuring your tribute reaches you wherever you are.
