Spiritual and Cultural Art by Ravi
I find peace in drawing our culture. From portraits of revered gurus like Sri Raghavendra Swamy to festive Ganesha sketches, I aim to capture the devotion and nostalgia that define our Karnataka roots.
A watercolor painting of Namma Metro in Bangalore. This piece captures the hustle and bustle of city life, using fluid colors to show the movement of the train and people on the platform.
An illustration for Maha Shivaratri. This artwork depicts Lord Shiva in a modern, graphic style, using bold lines and a splash of color to represent his divine form.
A digital portrait of Siddeshwara Swamiji, the 'Walking God' of Vijaypura. This was my tribute to the revered Jnanayogi, aiming to capture his peaceful and wise presence.
An illustration of Guru Raghavendra Swamy playing the veena. This detailed line drawing is often requested for various uses, including as a design for tattoos, showing deep devotion.
A portrait of Sri Raghavendra Swamy with the Kannada text 'Rayara Neralu' (Rayaru's Shadow). This is another piece I created for devotees, combining the portrait with respectful calligraphy.
A simple and clean illustration of Guru Raghavendra Swamy in a pose of blessing, with the words 'Rayariddare' (Rayaru is there). This artwork is meant to convey a sense of peace and faith.
A festive illustration of Lord Ganesha to celebrate the Gauri Ganesha festival. The design uses clean lines with a touch of color on the crown, blending traditional and modern styles.
About this collection
When I draw figures like Sri Raghavendra Swamy or scenes of cultural significance, I keep my lines clean and respectful. I do not believe in overcomplicating these subjects. Whether it is a digital illustration for a tattoo design or a canvas painting of Ganesha, my process focuses on capturing the calmness and divinity of the subject.
I work primarily on the iPad with Procreate, which allows me to blend modern, crisp lines with traditional subjects. This style works well for digital prints that you can easily frame at home or use as phone wallpapers.
My Approach to Cultural Art
For portraits of spiritual figures like Siddeshwara Swamiji, I aim for a balance—respectful likeness without being cartoonish. I use a restrained color palette or clean black-and-white lines to keep the focus on the subject's expression.
If you are looking for physical art, I also work with acrylics on canvas. These are larger pieces, perfect for prayer rooms or living spaces. Each piece, whether it is a depiction of Lord Shiva or a nostalgic street scene like 'Bombay Mittai', comes from a place of deep respect for our heritage.
Custom Requests
Many clients reach out to me for specific designs—tattoos based on Guru Raghavendra Swamy's blessings, or custom festive illustrations for Gauri Ganesha. If you have a specific scene, deity, or cultural memory you want to preserve, just send me a reference. I will make sure it feels authentic to what you are looking for.
