About In The Studio: Our Training Sessions
Our studio is designed for the high-impact energy of Mayurbhanj Chhau, featuring professional sprung wooden flooring that absorbs impact during your practice. We keep our batches limited to 15 students to ensure that the individual corrections I and my team provide actually help you master the form, whether you are joining for fitness or professional performance.
The Trikayaa Approach
I believe dance is more than movement; it is a way to find light, or Aghor, as we say. In our studio, we practice the guru-shishya tradition, where learning happens through a disciplined, lifelong bond rather than just hourly sessions.
What We Teach
- Mayurbhanj Chhau: This is my primary focus. It is a vigorous martial dance that demands core strength, agility, and flexibility. My classes include 15 minutes of yoga-based body conditioning to prepare your physique for the traditional jumps and strikes.
- Bharatanatyam: Taught by Guru Priya Srinivasan, our program follows the Kalakshetra style, covering both practical technique and the theoretical depth of the Natyashastra.
Training Structure
We prioritize authenticity. Whether you are a beginner or looking for professional certification, our curriculum includes:
- Foundational Technique: Repetitive practice of Adavus or Topkas to build muscle memory.
- Performance Training: We prepare senior students for real stage opportunities, such as our annual showcases at the Kamani Auditorium.
- Comprehensive Learning: Beyond steps, we teach the 'why'—theory, Sanskrit shlokas, and traditional rhythmic mathematics (Talam).
Classes are held in Indirapuram, Ghaziabad, in an air-conditioned, mirrored environment. We also offer online options for those who cannot visit us physically. My goal is to pass on the traditions I have spent my life mastering, ensuring you grow as a performer with every session.
Rakesh Sai Babu
I teach because dance is how we keep our virasat (heritage) alive. In my classes, we don't just learn steps; we build the core strength and discipline needed for Chhau and Bharatanatyam through the traditional guru-shishya bond.
