I bring the heritage of Mayurbhanj Chhau and Indian classical arts to educational institutions. My programs are designed to spark curiosity and discipline through interactive lecture-demonstrations.

This poster announces a Mayurbhanj Chhau performance at Shiv Nadar School, organized by SPIC MACAY. We frequently partner with educational institutions to introduce students to classical arts.

I was honored to be part of 'Virasat 2025' at Maulana Azad Medical College, a festival celebrating our heritage. My Chhau performance was featured alongside other eminent artists.

Another moment with the participants and hosts of our workshop. The enthusiasm and curiosity from students and teachers alike are always inspiring.

A proud moment with my team at an alumni meet at the University of Delhi. We often perform and conduct workshops at universities to engage with young adults.

An invitation for my Chhau performance at IIT Mandi for their 'Virasat '25' series. Performing at India's premier engineering institutes is a unique way to bridge science and art.

About Cultural Outreach: Workshops & School Programs

These outreach programs are not just performances but interactive lecture-demonstrations designed to explain the history and spiritual depth of Mayurbhanj Chhau. I engage directly with students, breaking down the complex martial movements into understandable steps to ensure the ancient lineage of the dance remains accessible and relevant.

My approach to cultural outreach is rooted in the philosophy that dance is a spiritual practice, a form of discipline that strengthens the body and mind. Whether working with schools like Shiv Nadar or premier institutes like IIT Mandi, my goal is to demystify Indian classical and martial arts for the modern student.

We structure these sessions to be educational, not just observational. A typical lecture-demonstration includes:

  • Historical Context: An introduction to the origins of Mayurbhanj Chhau, explaining how it differs from other styles and its evolution as a martial dance form.
  • Technical Breakdown: I demonstrate key movements and explain the rhythm that governs the dance. We look at the body conditioning involved, emphasizing the yoga-based stretching that keeps our dancers agile.
  • Interactive Q&A: I dedicate time for students to ask about the guru-shishya tradition, the challenges of professional training, and the spiritual concept of dance as a means to find light.

Schools and colleges benefit from these engagements as they provide students with a tangible connection to India's cultural heritage. These sessions are ideal for annual cultural days, SPIC MACAY chapters, or specialized heritage weeks. I am available to travel for these workshops, provided there is adequate space for physical movement and basic audio-visual support.
