Join our in-person Bharatanatyam sessions at Vivartana. We focus on traditional technique, individual posture correction, and steady progression for all ages.
Admissions are open for our Vijayadashami batches. This video captures the joyful and focused atmosphere of my studio classes, available both online and in-person for all ages.
A typical beginner's class at my studio, where young students learn the fundamental postures and hand gestures of Bharatanatyam. I focus on creating a supportive space for them to grow.
Personal correction is key to my teaching method. Here I am adjusting a student's arm and hand position to ensure she perfects the form, a practice central to the Guru-Shishya Parampara.
The energy of a weekend class at the studio. My students and I explore, create, and grow together, working on technique and choreography in a dynamic group setting.
During our Vijayadashami celebrations, I guide my senior students through a new piece of choreography. These special occasions are a wonderful time for learning and community bonding.
Students practicing a sequence in unison during a class. This helps develop synchronization and a collective sense of rhythm, which is essential for group performances.
A view from my perspective as a teacher. Leading the class from the front, I demonstrate movements that my students mirror, building their muscle memory and technique together.

An invitation to our Adavu Meet in Chennai. These workshops are open to everyone, regardless of style or age, with the simple intention of coming together to practice and share our love for dance.
About Our Studio: In-Person Classes & Workshops
My classes are deliberately small, which allows me to work closely with every student on the finer points of their posture and rhythm. We follow the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara style, which means you will receive direct, hands-on correction until you feel the movement as a natural extension of your own body.
Whether you are taking your first steps or refining advanced pieces, my studio provides a dedicated space for disciplined learning. We operate out of two locations, Malleswaram in Bengaluru and Kodambakkam in Chennai, designed specifically for dance.
The Learning Process
- Foundations: Beginners start with the Adavus (footwork). We spend time breaking down each rhythm and hand gesture, ensuring your foundation is stable before we move to more complex sequences.
- Correction & Feedback: I use a mirror-based approach in the studio. You will often see me demonstrating, followed by specific, individual feedback on your alignment and angle. My goal is to fix the habits that cause strain so you can dance with longevity.
- Cultural Context: Dance is more than physical exertion. We include theory sessions where we recite Shlokas and discuss the history behind the art form. This helps you understand the 'why' behind the 'what.'
Practical Details
We run bi-weekly sessions to balance intensity with recovery. The studio flooring is specifically chosen for knee safety, and we maintain a supportive, non-competitive atmosphere where it is perfectly okay to make mistakes while learning. If you have previous training, we can assess your level to place you in the correct batch for your skill set.
Preparing for the Stage
For advanced students, we focus on Margam progression. We integrate Nattuvangam practice and stamina building, preparing you for the reality of live performance.
