About this collection
We conduct our classical sessions on dedicated hardwood flooring, which is essential for the acoustic feedback you need when practising traditional footwork. Whether you are mastering precise Adavus or diving into Abhinaya, we balance strict classical grammar with the personal joy of storytelling, ensuring you learn the form correctly from the start.
At Abstratics, our approach to Indian classical dance is built on the belief that discipline and expression must coexist. We do not just teach steps; we guide students through the complex structures of Natya Shastra, ensuring that every movement is grounded in tradition.
Our Methodology
Our curriculum is split into two primary components to ensure a balanced development:
- Nritta (Pure Dance): This is where we focus on technique. We break down the grammar of footwork, Chakkars, and rhythm cycles (Tala), ensuring your form is clean and precise.
- Abhinaya (Expression): This is the heart of our storytelling. We teach students how to use facial expressions and hand mudras to communicate narrative, making the dance as much about emotion as it is about movement.
Why Train With Us?
Whether you are a beginner looking to understand the basics or an advanced student preparing for certification exams like Gandharva, our sessions are structured to help you grow. We maintain small batches to ensure each student gets individual attention, particularly with posture and alignment.
We operate from our studios in Rajarajeshwari Nagar and Jayanagar, providing an environment that is focused, supportive, and free from the noise of typical commercial classes. We emphasize the 'why' behind every movement, helping you understand the history and intention of the pieces you perform. If you are looking to prepare for formal assessments or simply want to reconnect with the rhythm of classical dance, our classes offer a steady, paced, and authentic environment.
Abstratics
We have spent 11 years building a space for movers in Bangalore, not just a classroom. Our classical sessions are designed for those who want to master the grammar of dance while keeping the soul of the performance alive.
