About Awards & Recognition
Beyond the medals and ceremonies, these awards represent the moments where my two worlds, teaching and painting, came together. Receiving the Best Art Teacher award from the Maharashtra Education Department was not just a personal achievement but a nod to the impact art education has on our students. Each certificate and memento you see here is a reminder of the path I have chosen, dedicated to preserving our heritage and guiding the next generation of creators.
My journey in the arts has been defined by a constant desire to pay tribute to our rich culture. When I create portraits of historical icons or design grand, eco-friendly entrances for national events like the Scout Jamboree, I am not just painting or building; I am sharing a story.
The 'Krantijyoti Savitrimai Phule State Teacher Award' holds a special place in my heart because it recognizes the soul of my work: teaching. I have always believed that guiding students to their own success is far more rewarding than any individual trophy. This philosophy extends to the permanent installations of my work in the Mantralay, where my paintings of Mahatma Phule and Savitribai Phule stand as a humble tribute to our history.
Whether it is jury duty for international art competitions or keynote speaking engagements, these opportunities allow me to connect with fellow artists and enthusiasts. I am deeply grateful to the dignitaries, ministers, and educators who have supported this journey. Each acknowledgement is a blessing that encourages me to keep painting, keep teaching, and keep honoring our 'bharatiya aitihasik sanskriti' (Indian historical culture).
Rajesh Sawant
I am Rajesh Sawant, and for me, art is a vinamra chitra abhivadan (humble artistic tribute) to our history. While I have received 22 international awards, my greatest pride is seeing my students shine as a kaladhyapak (art teacher) in Nashik. I am just a student of art, forever learning and grateful for this life.
