Meet Rajesh Sawant: Fine Artist and Educator
My art is my humble artistic tribute to our Indian historical culture. Explore my journey, my teaching philosophy, and the passion I bring to every canvas.
A candid portrait of me, taken outdoors. I believe an artist's work is a reflection of their soul and their connection to the world around them.
A portrait of me taken amidst traditional Indian carved wooden pillars. I draw immense inspiration from our country's rich architectural and cultural heritage.
A smiling portrait from an evening event. The joy of being part of the art community is something I deeply value.
A portrait of me, ready for an event. I believe in presenting myself with the same care and attention to detail that I put into my art.
A happy and relaxed portrait. My art is my joy, and I am thankful for every moment I get to create.
Holding my completed landscape painting after a live demonstration. This is the satisfying culmination of hours of focused work.
Another portrait with my finished painting, capturing the sense of accomplishment and gratitude I feel after each creative session.
A final portrait with my artwork from the Nandurbar Art Summit. Each painting holds a story and a memory of the place and people who witnessed its creation.
About About the Artist
I believe that an artist’s work is incomplete without a direct connection to the viewer. When I perform live painting demonstrations, I do not just create a piece of art; I share the history and the spirit behind every brushstroke, whether I am leading a classroom in Nashik or speaking at an international summit.
Art, for me, is more than just pigment on canvas. It is a 'vinamra chitra abhivadan'—a humble artistic tribute to our 'bharatiya aitihasik sanskriti' (Indian historical culture). My journey as a fine artist has taken me from local studios in Nashik to international art summits, but my philosophy remains firmly rooted in the values imparted by my gurus. Whether I am capturing the strength of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in a portrait or painting the serene landscapes of our historical forts, my goal is always to keep our heritage alive.,,,,
Beyond my own studio work, the role of 'kaladhyapak' (art teacher) is one I hold with immense pride. I find that teaching art brings a unique form of satisfaction that awards alone cannot match. My workshops are designed for those who are serious about their craft, whether they are students or fellow teachers. We delve into technical aspects like anatomy, light management, and color theory, ensuring that every participant leaves with a deeper understanding of the medium.
For events and corporate gatherings, I offer live painting demonstrations. This is where I bring the 'live' aspect of art to the stage, performing high-speed realistic renderings that engage an audience instantly. It is about creating a shared experience where the audience witnesses the evolution of a painting from start to finish. I am deeply grateful for the opportunities I have had to serve as a jury member, keynote speaker, and mentor, and I always look forward to connecting with those who share a love for our rich artistic traditions. I invite you to reach out if you wish to discuss a workshop, a live performance, or a custom commission that aligns with these cultural values. 🙏💐🎨
