Kathak Community and Cultural Celebrations at Kalanjali
At Kalanjali, dance is more than just practice; it is a shared journey. We honor our heritage through festivals and performances, creating a supportive family for every student.
Guru Purnima is a sacred day where we honor the 'guru-shishya parampara' (teacher-student tradition). The day begins with a puja, where we pay respect to the lineage of masters who have passed down this art form.
Following the rituals, my students offer their dance as a form of respect and gratitude on Guru Purnima. It is a beautiful exchange that reinforces the deep connection between the art, the artist, and the guide.
Expressing the joy and vibrancy of Holi through dance. In this studio celebration, my students and I performed a playful piece to mark the festival of colors.
A festive greeting from all of us at Kalanjali for Ganesh Chaturthi. We celebrate these occasions together, strengthening our bonds as a community.
Wishing everyone a Happy Independence Day from our dance family. We celebrate our national pride through our country's rich artistic heritage.
About Community and Celebrations
When you join our community, festivals become more than just calendar dates; they are vital moments where we connect with the art. During classes leading up to celebrations like Guru Purnima or Holi, we dedicate time to discussing the cultural context of our movements, ensuring you understand the 'Abhinaya' (expression) behind the performance.
I believe that classical dance thrives when shared. This is why our studio in Kundanahalli Gate is designed to be a space where students of all levels—from absolute beginners to advanced dancers—feel comfortable.
Why We Celebrate
Our approach to festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Independence Day isn't just about entertainment. It's about 'Guru-Shishya Parampara' (the teacher-student tradition). By performing together, students build confidence, learn to work as a group, and understand the depth of Kathak beyond the studio walls. Whether it is a small puja or an annual stage production, these events help you refine your stage presence and emotional expression.
Building a Dance Family
- In-Person Connection: Our small batch sizes, capped at 15 students, allow me to provide personal feedback on posture and expression, ensuring you feel seen and supported.
- Inclusive Learning: We welcome everyone, regardless of background. If you have a love for rhythm, there is a place for you in our circle.
- Workshops with Masters: We periodically invite guest Gurus, such as Tribhuwan Maharaj, to lead sessions. This gives you a chance to learn directly from experts who carry decades of wisdom, connecting you to the broader world of Kathak.
Whether you join our in-studio batches or sign up for live virtual classes, you become part of this community. We ensure that even online students are integrated into our community updates and theoretical discussions, keeping the spirit of Kalanjali alive no matter where you are.
