About The Squat Rack

Getting the rack height right is the first step most beginners mess up. If you have to stand on your toes to unrack or you are squatting too low just to clear the hooks, you have already wasted energy. Set it just below shoulder level so you can unrack with a slight knee bend, lock out, and step back. Every ounce of energy belongs on the lift, not the setup.

Building a squat that hits 300kg or 390kg is not about luck. It is about consistency and a rigid setup. When you step into the rack, your mind must be completely locked in. I see lifters wasting time on fluff. In the rack, it is just you, the bar, and gravity.

Whether I am training raw or using a suit for equipped lifting, the bracing remains the same. You need to create intra-abdominal pressure that feels like your spine is wrapped in steel. Most guys fail because they lose their tightness before they even hit the hole. I focus on keeping the chest up and driving the hips through.

Equipped lifting is a different beast entirely. The gear, the suit and the knee wraps, is designed to handle weight that would crush you raw. But if you do not know how to ride the gear, it will fight you. I have spent years learning how to push against the suit to get that rebound. It is not about letting the gear do the work; it is about using the tension to your advantage.

If you are struggling to break your plateau, stop guessing. Are your spotters trusting you, or are they just standing there? A bad spotter is a liability. You need team members who know exactly when to step in and when to let you grind out the rep. We do not do time pass training here. Every set, every rep, has a purpose, whether it is perfecting the walkout or maxing out for a heavy check. Stop looking for shortcuts. The secret is the hours you put in when nobody is watching.
