Squat Sessions: Master Your Technique and Power
Master the foundation of raw strength. Whether you're learning your first squat or pushing for a new personal record, I'll drill your form until it's perfect.
I’m performing a heavy squat set in the rack. Even as a coach, I believe in leading from the front and pushing my own limits.
A paused squat with 140 kg. This variation builds strength at the bottom of the lift and reinforces proper positioning.
Another repetition of my squat set. Consistency in form and effort is key to making progress in powerlifting.
An old memory of me squatting 325 kg at a bodyweight of 116 kg, preparing for an Inter-Railway competition. This is the level of strength we strive for.
My student Himanshu working through his squat session. I am right there, giving cues like "Grip tight" to ensure every rep is perfect and safe.
My student Yatin making a comeback after a knee injury. We are working on his squat form with 180 kg, focusing on rebuilding strength and confidence.
Another angle of Yatin's comeback squat session. Smart programming and mental toughness are crucial for powerlifting injury recovery.
My student Sangeeta squatting 115 kg to hit a new personal record and qualify for the Women’s National Classic Powerlifting Championship.
My student Beena preparing for the Junior Nationals. I am ensuring her form is perfect as she handles heavy weight in her squat suit.
My student Sonia working on her equipped squat. I'm giving her cues to stay stable and maintain tightness throughout the lift.
About Squat Sessions
Don't just load the bar and hope for the best. In our group sessions, we strip your technique back to basics—bar path, bracing, and depth—because a heavy squat is useless if it isn't controlled. When you train with us at Matiala, you're not just lifting; you're learning how to build a squat that stays injury-free under heavy load.
Building a Foundation of Strength
The squat is the absolute foundation of powerlifting. At our studio in Matiala, we don't believe in skipping the basics. Whether you are a beginner stepping onto the platform for the first time or an advanced lifter aiming for a 300+ kg total, my coaching focuses on the three pillars of a great squat: depth, bracing, and bar path.
How We Train
During our sessions, expect real-time feedback. I don't just watch; I correct. You will hear me emphasizing technical cues like "Chest up," "Scapula retract," and "Engage your core" repeatedly. We use:
- Competition-Grade Equipment: Train with Red Combo Racks and calibrated metal plates (Challenge/Sera) so the equipment matches what you will face in competition.
- Technical Drills: We utilize paused reps to build strength at the bottom of the lift and ensure your positioning remains solid under pressure.
- Supportive Squad: Powerlifting is a mental game. Our group environment ensures you always have a spotter and a team to push you past your perceived limits, even when the workout gets grueling.
Preparation for Every Level
Whether your goal is general strength or you are preparing for State, Regional, or National meets, our programming is tailored to your specific needs. I handle everything from your opener attempts to the final strategy on competition day. If you are struggling with a plateau or returning from an injury, we focus on rebuilding your foundation with intelligent volume management rather than reckless intensity. If you are ready to stop guessing and start lifting, come join the squad.
