Intimate Musical Gatherings and Private Performances
Music flourishes best in quiet, shared spaces. Whether it is a home concert or an interactive workshop, I focus on creating a deep connection between the poetry, the melody, and the people in the room.
It was a joy to perform for Professor Sharada's 70th birthday. A special thanks to my brilliant co-artists Krishna Udupa and S Madhusudan for making it a memorable evening.
I was moved and nervous to perform for the special children from the Srishti Special Academy for Bhoomija's Jackfruit Festival. It was one of the most precious concerts of my life.
A still from my performance for the children at the Srishti Special Academy. We became friends before the concert even began, and their passionate singing was a gift.
Another view of the intimate concert for the Jackfruit Festival. Curated by Shubha Mudgal, an artist I deeply respect, this performance was truly special.
An invitation to 'Makkala Raaga', a special music and dance program by over 400 children, organized by the Makkala Jagriti NGO. I was honoured to sing a special song for this cause.
Performing 'Threshold' with Bindhumalini at Panchgani for an event focused on music, poetry, and conversations. These intimate settings allow for deep connection.
A wider view of our 'Threshold' performance at Panchgani. It was a beautiful experience to share our music and thoughts with such an engaged audience.
On stage with Bindhumalini at Panchgani. Our 'Threshold' performance is a journey through poetry and music that we love to share in these close-knit gatherings.
A beautiful, warm gesture from the Manganiyars, including Padma Shri awardee Anwar Khanji, wishing our 'Weaving Voices' team the best in their special way.
Rehearsing for 'Weaving Voices' with the team. This is where the magic begins, in the collaborative process of bringing a show to life.
About Intimate Gatherings & Workshops
For a home kacheri, I adapt the performance specifically to the mood of the room. I keep the setup minimal, focusing on unplugged vocals and storytelling, so we can explore the nuances of Bhavageethe and Vachanas without the need for heavy sound equipment, turning your living room into a space for genuine conversation.
A Personal Connection Through Music
When I perform in intimate settings, the barrier between artist and audience disappears. It is not about a stage or a spotlight; it is about the sangama, or confluence, of our shared stories and emotions.
The Home Kacheri Experience
An intimate acoustic session is designed for smaller gatherings, like home concerts or close corporate circles. I bring along one or two musicians—typically tabla or keyboard—to maintain a soulful, unplugged environment. This format is perfect for:
- Deep Listening: Focusing on the lyrical depth of Vachanas and Bhavageethe.
- Storytelling: Interspersing songs with the history behind the poets and the context of the lyrics.
- Interaction: I always make time for a casual meet-and-greet with guests after the music, as the connection with you is the reason I perform.
Workshops and Collaborative Sessions
Beyond performances, I love facilitating workshops where we dive into the craft of music and poetry. Whether you want to explore the history of Kannada Sugama Sangeetha or understand how to blend traditional lyrics with modern compositions, these sessions are interactive and conversational. My approach is to learn from you as much as you learn from me, making it an enriching dialogue rather than a one-way lecture.
Logistics Made Simple
I handle the artistic preparation, including the research on poets and song selection, well in advance. For home gatherings, we only require a simple 45-minute sound check before your guests arrive to ensure the audio is balanced for the room size. My goal is to ensure the focus remains on the music and the warm, welcoming atmosphere of your event.
Pallavi MD
I am Pallavi. Music, for me, has always been about the people I share it with. Whether I am singing in a grand theatre or your living room, I bring the same focus on storytelling and honest connection, and I am always looking forward to the chai and charcha that follows a good performance.
