Music is meant to be shared, not just heard from a distance. Here is a glimpse into the intimate baithaks and musical gatherings I curate across Bengaluru, where every note feels like a conversation.

For me, music is not about showing off skills on a big stage. After 29 years of performing, I still feel the real magic happens in small, informal baithaks where you can truly bond with people. It's about creating a connection, a conversation, and celebrating music together.

This is the kind of atmosphere I love to create. Everyone sitting together, close to the music, under the warm lights of the courtyard. It’s not a formal concert, it’s a shared experience with artists like Ustad Faiyaz Khan and my brother Sarfaraaz Khan.

Lost in the rhythm. This is a moment from a ghazal night with the wonderful singer Shri Sanam Khan. For me, accompanying an artist is a conversation, a give and take of energy that makes the performance special.

What's a baithak without some hot chai? It's these small things that help break down the walls and make everyone feel at home. We serve it fresh and hot, just like the music.

The audience is just as important as the artists. Seeing faces light up, lost in the melody, is the greatest reward. This is what it’s all about, creating a space where everyone can feel the music, not just hear it.

A beautiful moment from an evening of ghazals with Sanam Khan. You can see the connection between us as performers and feel the warmth from the audience. This is the intimate, interactive mehfil experience I strive to create.

The chemistry between musicians is everything. Here I am with my little brother, Sarfaraaz Khan, during a moment of shared understanding. It's this bond that brings the music to life.

A simple portrait, but it captures my love for the tabla. This instrument has been my companion for decades, and it's a joy to share its voice with you.

About Featured

What sets these gatherings apart is the removal of the barrier between artist and audience. We skip the formal stage and the distance of a traditional concert hall. Instead, you sit on floor cushions, enjoy a cup of hot chai, and listen to Hindustani classical, Ghazals, or Thumri as they were meant to be heard: up close, acoustic, and conversational. It is an invitation to pause and genuinely connect with the musicians.
