About

Music isn’t just notes for me - it’s about connection, stories, and working with others. Every project, whether theatre, albums, or something for a cause, is a chance to learn and collaborate. I’m always trying to stay true to the feeling that music can actually bring people closer.

What Inspires My Music

Most of my composing starts with poetry or a story. I take texts, sometimes as old as Kuvempu’s, sometimes a fresh script, and let them be my daarideepa (guiding light).
My style mixes what I’ve grown up with and what I’ve picked up on the way. Expect to hear Indian classical, folk, Bhavageethe composition techniques, and sometimes a bit of electronic or experimental stuff layered in.

Where You’ll Find My Work

  • Indian theatre music direction: From working with directors on multilingual plays to being a consultant for international productions, I’m hands-on with the music side of performances.
  • Albums & singles: I love experimenting. I’ve worked on international collaborations, revived classic Kannada poetry, and had songs selected for albums by big names like Angelique Kidjo.
  • Social impact music projects: Making legal or social topics into simple, poetic songs gives me tumba santhosha (a lot of joy).

Directing & Teaching

Bringing big events to life, like concerts for Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava, is something I cherish. I also direct shows with special needs students - honestly, nothing shows the power of music more.
I run masterclass in music storytelling for aspiring composers, sharing what I’ve learnt and learning in return.

My Story

Hi, I’m Pallavi. I sing, act, direct, make films—mostly, I tell stories with whoever wants to join in. My house is always buzzing, chai and charcha (tea and chat) everywhere, and my daughter Kaadu in the thick of it, dreaming up wild cakes or judging my stories. I’ve learnt from legends of Sugama Sangeetha, and awards like Vachana Sahityashri remind me this art is bigger than me. Blending life and art, old and new, is what keeps me going.

My Work

All things art—singing, acting, directing, composing - I do classical, folk, world music, even ancient poetry fusion music. Also, storytelling for kids and talks on art.

Collaboration, always - Best art happens with people. My shows are a team effort—no lone wolves here.

Music for a cause - I love inclusive music projects, charity gigs, and working with young talents from Srishti Special Academy.

Old poetry, new beats - I bring ancient, progressive poetry alive with modern tunes—think Basavanna meeting rock and jazz.

Genre bending theatre shows - Expect intimate, multi-sensory experiences—music, poetry, movement all mixed up.
