Bodyweight mastery isn't about raw strength; it is about control, shapes, and timing. We strip away the shortcuts to build your gymnastics skills from the ground up.

There's a lot that goes into a ring muscle-up: hip pop, active hangs, and body shapes. It all starts with building a solid foundation. Here are two members working on their technique, focusing on pressing down on the rings and staying tight.

It only took about 10 minutes of teaching a few key pieces for this athlete to get his first bar muscle-up. Sometimes, the right cues at the right time are all it takes to unlock a new skill. Onwards and upwards!

About Gymnastics & Bodyweight Mastery

Most people try to muscle-up by simply pulling harder, but you cannot strength-your-way out of a technique gap. We spend our time on the fundamentals—hollow holds, ring transitions, and hip pop—because that is where the actual mastery happens. If you are stuck on a plateau or keep stressing your shoulders trying to get your first ring dip, it is usually because your foundation is missing a few shapes, not because you lack the strength.

Our Approach to Gymnastics

Gymnastics at our K. Narayanapura facility is treated as a technical drill, not a standard cardio workout. We do not believe in throwing you into a WOD (Workout of the Day) if your movement mechanics are compromised. We break complex movements into their component parts.

Whether you are chasing your first strict pull-up, a bar muscle-up, or cleaning up your ring work, we follow a strict progression:

  • Shape Control: We start with hollow and arch positions. If you cannot hold these shapes on the floor, you cannot hold them on the rings.
  • Transition Mechanics: The most common point of failure for a muscle-up is the transition. We use specific drills to teach your body to move around the rings, not just pull towards them.
  • Scalability: Everyone starts somewhere. If you cannot do a pull-up, we use banded or eccentric variations to build the necessary recruitment patterns. We do not skip steps.

Why This Works

We avoid the 'verbal diarrhea of cues.' Instead, we fix one thing at a time. This method prevents information overload and lets you focus on the feeling of the movement. Our sessions often involve slow-motion video analysis so you can see exactly where you are leaking energy. This is a partnership; you bring the patience, and I will bring the technical eye to get you moving better.

I'm Kaustav, and I run the show here at Once More CrossFit. Gymnastics is my favorite puzzle to solve; it is not about how strong you are, but how well you can move your own weight. I will teach you the shapes and the timing, and you will do the work to make it stick.
