Watching my students step into the spotlight as solo performers is my proudest achievement. Here are glimpses of my makla commanding the stage with grace, focus, and confidence.

About Solo Showcases & Star Performers

Every solo performance you see here is the result of dedicated 'Margam' training. We do not just teach steps; we work on 'Abhinaya' (expression), the stamina required to hold an audience for an hour, and the stage presence needed to connect. If you are preparing for your own 'Rangapravesha' or a specific solo recital, I help you with everything from costume coordination and music selection to refining your adavus for the stage.

Transitioning from a group dancer to a solo artist is a significant milestone in any dancer's life. It requires moving beyond simple technique to mastering the art of storytelling through mudras and facial expressions. At Nrithyakuteera, I guide my senior students through this process, focusing on the Kalakshetra style that I have followed throughout my own 23-year career.

The Path to the Solo Stage

My training for soloists is intensive. We start by selecting a repertoire that suits the dancer's strengths and build their stamina to handle a 60-to-90-minute performance. We dive deep into the theory of 'kanakku' (rhythmic math) and ensure every movement is precise. Whether it is a performance at the ICCR, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, or a local festival like Kanasu, I stand by my students, managing the nattuvangam and ensuring they feel supported from the first rehearsal to the final bow.

Preparing for Your Arangetram or Recital

If you are an experienced dancer looking to perform your first solo recital, or if you need to refine a piece for an upcoming cultural event in Bengaluru, I am here to help. My guidance covers:

  • Repertoire Selection: Choosing the right items for your skill level.
  • Technical Polish: Refining your araimandi and hasta mudras.
  • Stage Presence: Building the confidence to perform alone.
  • Logistics: Assistance with costume, makeup, and music cues.

My goal is to make your solo performance a true reflection of your hard work and passion. If you are ready to take this next step, let us chat about your dance journey.
