About Bharatanatyam Dance Classes
What Makes Us Different
Nrithyakuteera is honestly like a second home for all of us. I’m Deepa Bhat, and I treat every student as my own makla (kids). Here, laughter, energy, and support are just as important as dancing itself. We stick to the Guru-Shishya tradition but also make space for new ideas. Our seniors act like akka (big sisters) and everyone helps each other grow - not just in dance, but in life too.
How We Approach Bharatanatyam
We train mainly in Kalakshetra style Bharatanatyam. Basics come first, always. I’ll keep asking for better adavus (steps), even when students think they’ve nailed it - that’s just how we keep the standard high. We mix practicals with theory, including kanakku (rhythmic maths), so students understand both movement and meaning.
Who Can Join
Doesn’t matter if you’re a total beginner, a school kid, or a mummy wanting to try something new. We’ve got batches for every level: from absolute beginners to seniors, vidwath, and even a ladies-only “mummy batch.” It’s never too late or too early to start dancing.
Beyond the Class
We love to perform. My students regularly get on stage - from our grand annual ‘Nrithya Milana’ at big venues, to cultural festivals all over Bengaluru, and even TV spots like DD Chandana. If you want to experience Bharatanatyam stage performance opportunity, you’ll get it here.
Serious About Dance?
For those who want to go deep, we help students prepare for university certified Bharatanatyam training through respected institutions. If you’re dreaming of real recognition, we’ll walk with you all the way.
Dance with us, find your people, and just be yourself. That’s what our NK family is all about.

My Story
More than 23 years since my own Rangapravesha, and dance is still my heartbeat. I owe my journey to my gurus and family. My biggest pride? My makla – my students, my crazy gang. Our dance class is home, where we work hard, goof around, make reels, trek, and celebrate like one big NK family. Seniors are akka, and everyone belongs. Off stage, I’m all for simple joys – a rain shower, hot jola, and time with my dumma. Male + jola = swarga, always.
My Work
Bharatanatyam Classes & Choreography - I teach all levels, from basics to Vidwath. I also do Bharatanatyam choreography for performances.
Gejjepuje & Rangapravesha Prep - I help students get ready for Gejjepuje and Rangapravesha, guiding through every step.
Nattuvangam & Performance - I offer nattuvangam training and also perform as a dancer at various events.
Nrithyakuteera Family - This is more than a class – it’s a performing arts family. We celebrate, support, and grow together.
Teaching Style - Strong basics, dedication, and respect. We work hard, but laughter and fun are always part of the journey.
