Dry-Land Strength Training for Swimmers
Think swimming only happens in the pool? Think again. We bring the water to the gym with dry-land workouts designed to build the strength, stability, and reaction times that make you faster and safer in the water.
Building the future strong and resilient. We love coaching these committed and disciplined kids during their strength training sessions.
Our kids getting ready for their next competition with some strength training. These exercises build the power and stability they need to perform their best in the pool.
Reaction drills are so important for young swimmers to improve their start times. Training skills on land is just as important as training in the water, and we make sure it's super fun!
About this collection
We don't just throw weights around. Our dry-land program at CrossFit 9one in Koramangala is specifically mapped to your swimming goals. For our young Marlins, this means reaction drills to sharpen race starts, while for our Jellies, it means shoulder bulletproofing to keep your stroke smooth and injury-free.
Beyond the Water
Many swimmers think time in the water is the only way to get faster, but swimming is a high-skill sport that relies heavily on core stability and power. Whether you are a competitive junior or an adult triathlete, your performance starts with how you move on land.
How We Train
We focus on two main areas to complement your swim sessions:
- Shoulder Bulletproofing: Swimming is repetitive. We use resistance bands and controlled mobility exercises to strengthen the supporting muscles around your shoulders, helping you prevent the common injuries that keep swimmers out of the water.
- Reaction & Power: For our Marlins, we run specific reaction drills to improve start times off the blocks. For adults, we focus on explosive power that translates directly to your push-offs and turn mechanics.
Why It Matters
Think of dry-land as the engine room. If your core is weak, your hips sink, and you lose your streamline in the water. We prioritize core stability and exercises that mimic swimming motions to ensure your body is ready to work efficiently, whether you are training for an Ironman or your first 50m sprint.
Where We Train
Our specialized strength and conditioning happens at CrossFit 9one in Koramangala. It is a dedicated space where we can work on everything that you cannot do on a pool deck—from heavy lifts to agility work. We keep the batches focused, ensuring that every participant gets the attention they need to perform exercises safely and effectively.
Nisha Millet Swimming Academy
I’m Nisha, and I’ve learned the hard way that the pool is only half the battle. I teamed up with the team at CrossFit 9one to make sure you have the core power and shoulder stability to back up your technique when you’re in the water.
