About this collection
Seeing our students stand on the podium is rewarding, but I focus on what happens in the months before the event. We train for discipline first, so when a student enters a Kumite match or performs a Poomsae pattern, their nerves are managed by thousands of repetitions in our Malleshpalya studio. Success here is a result of that steady, daily grind, not just raw talent.
Why We Compete
Competition is a mirror for a student's progress. When our students step onto the mat at tournaments like the Kempegowda Cup or the VIFA National Championship, they face opponents they do not know. This environment forces them to apply their training under pressure, testing their reaction time, focus, and emotional control.
Our Approach to Tournament Training
We do not prepare for tournaments at the last minute. Our competition preparation is a year-round process:
- Technical Precision: We break down Kata and Poomsae to the smallest detail—footwork, hip rotation, and breathing.
- Mental Toughness: Sparring (Kumite) sessions are designed to build resilience. We teach students to stay calm even when they are tired or trailing in points.
- Fitness & Conditioning: Fighters need explosive power. Our dedicated conditioning drills ensure they have the stamina to last the full duration of a match.
A Family Effort
None of these achievements are solo acts. It requires a triangle of effort: the student’s dedication, our coaching, and the parents' commitment to bring them to class consistently, even on early weekend mornings. That is the NMFA family spirit. Whether they are competing in Bengaluru or traveling for an international meet, the real victory is seeing them walk off the mat with their heads held high, regardless of the score.
National Martial Arts and Fitness Academy
I'm Coach Prabakaran, and I see every student who walks into my academy as a future champion. We don't just teach martial arts for the sake of fighting; we train for life. When I watch my students compete, I’m not just looking for medals—I’m looking for the courage they show when things get tough.
