Karate Champions: Competition Training and Medal Wins in Bangalore
Winning a trophy is the result, but the real story is in the training. See our students' recent achievements at state and national karate championships.
A proud moment for all of us at BBK. Congratulations to Nikhil for winning Gold at the Under 19 PU Board State Level Karate Selections and getting selected for Nationals.
This is a huge achievement. Sensei Sharan brought the National Level Kata Grand Championship back to Bangalore after 17 years. This is what persistence and hard work look like.
Our student, a national karate champion, featured in the Vijaya Karnataka newspaper. It's always a joy to see their dedication recognized by the wider community.
Celebrating the successful completion of our 13th state-level inter-dojo karate championship. Holding this trophy represents the collective effort of our entire team.
The BBK team at the SIKKA 4th Open National Level Championship in 2022. We don't just train to fight; we train to win and represent our dojo with pride.
This is what our team is about. A group huddle after a successful run at the SIKKA National Championship. We celebrate our wins and support each other as a family.
Our girls shining at the Under 17 District Level Championships. Sara with Gold, and Shreesha, Keerthana, and Hithashree with their medals. I am so proud of their performance.
About this collection
Competition preparation is not just about the trophy on the shelf. It is about the hours of Kata and Kumite drills that happen months before the tournament. If you want to train for championships, you need to be prepared for the grind—we train with high intensity, and every student here, whether it is their first district event or a national level selection, commits to the same standard of hard work.
Training for the Podium
At Bangalore Budokan, we do not view competition as a destination. It is a benchmark. We train our students for local, state, and national championships not just to collect medals, but to test their technique under pressure. Whether it is the SIKKA National Championship or the PU Board selections, the goal remains the same: execute the form, control your breathing, and win the moment.
More Than Just a Medal
When you see a student like Sensei Sharan bringing home a National Kata Grand Championship trophy after 17 years, or young students like Nikhil securing Gold at the PU Board state selections, it is easy to assume it came naturally. It did not. Those wins are products of 60 to 75-minute sessions filled with agility ladder drills, knuckle conditioning, and relentless repetition of basics. We teach our students that if they want the recognition, they have to earn it in the dojo first.
Our Approach to Competition
- Kata Mastery: We focus on the Heian series and Basadai, ensuring that every stance (Zenkutsu Dachi) and snap is precise enough for professional judges.
- Kumite Readiness: Sparring is not about swinging wildly. It is about reaction time, point scoring, and ring strategy. We run specific drills to prepare you for WKF-style competitions.
- Community Support: You will notice in our photos that we are always together. When one student competes, the whole dojo supports them. This family atmosphere is what keeps us winning, from district events in Jayanagar to national stages across India.
If you are serious about martial arts and want to push your limits, our doors are open. Oss.
Derick Kishan
I started Bangalore Budokan to build a tribe, not just a business. Seeing Sensei Sharan bring home a National Kata championship trophy or students like Nikhil qualify for nationals—that is the real payoff. We train for life, but we also train to win.
