My Movement Journey and Dance Philosophy
Movement isn't just about steps. It is how I talk to my body, navigate setbacks, and find my rhythm. Here is the philosophy behind how I teach and move.
New day, new flow. I am back to dancing my way after a year long journey recovering from a shoulder injury. Life has its twists, but my passion for dance is constant.
My movement was different before my shoulder dislocation. This is me in 2023, slowly getting my speed and abilities back. I'm waiting to dance full out again.
A late night free flow experiment to test how much sudden weight my shoulder is ready to take post injury. I see a lot of progress, even though my right side is still weak.
Spiral inspiral. The days are getting closer to hitting the dance floor with my full energy. This is part of my shoulder injury recovery, focusing on the basics.
Just saying hi to my spine. Connecting with your spine is crucial for core stability, body awareness, and finding freedom in your movement. This is a key tip for improvisation.
Just following a trend in my own way. A compilation of jumps and poses, celebrating the beauty of contemporary and ballet lines.
About this collection
When I dislocated my shoulder, I had to completely rethink how I approached training. It was not about pushing harder or forcing technical perfection; it became about re-learning how to trust my body's limits. I stopped chasing the ideal form and started focusing on how to move sustainably with the strength I had that day. If you are coming back from an injury or just feel disconnected from your own practice, this is exactly the kind of intentional, patient movement we explore in my sessions.
Dance is my active meditation. It is not about hitting perfect lines or winning competitions, though I respect the craft of both. It is about the dialogue I have with my own body. My path has taken me through intense training at the Terence Lewis Institute and Attakalari, but my most profound lessons came during my recovery from a serious shoulder injury last year. My right side was weak, and I had to strip my movement down to the basics. I had to learn to breathe into the discomfort rather than fight it.
This experience fundamentally changed how I teach. I do not believe in forcing students into rigid shapes. Instead, we use contemporary improvisation, Floor Barre, and Cunningham techniques to build a vocabulary that is entirely your own. We focus on somatic awareness, core stability, and the relationship between gravity and lightness.
Whether we are working at Danzelle Dance Studio in JP Nagar, or conducting 1-on-1 private sessions across Bengaluru, the goal remains the same: movement that feels like you. You will learn to listen to your spine, understand your center, and trust your instincts. If you are tired of standard choreography and want to explore the art of movement, let's connect and find your flow.
