Featured Dance Work & Performance Highlights
A glimpse into my movement world... where we move past technical steps to find our flow. From competition stages to the studio floor.
This is what we work for. It was an incredible experience preparing these talented young dancers from Bloomingdale International School to represent India at the Dance World Cup 2025 qualifiers in Spain.
In my contemporary flow classes, we explore advanced techniques like 'Flying Low'. It's about challenging our limits with speed and flow, learning to move with both power and grace.
This is my flow technique. It's a blend of contemporary dance and acrobatics, focusing on control, strength, and fluid transitions. This is the kind of technical skill we build in my advanced training sessions.
Day one of a toolbox class. We start with the fundamentals of body awareness, improvisation, and building trust. Here, we're exploring the basics of the Flying Low technique, learning how to connect with the floor.
A proud moment watching my students perform at the Dance World Cup in Portugal. They competed against teams from 59 countries and secured the 22nd position, representing India on a global stage.
A glimpse of a partner work piece on stage. My training also focuses on contact improvisation and duet choreography, teaching dancers how to connect and create with a partner.
I run intensive programs for trained dancers who want to dive deeper. This two month course covers everything from body conditioning and contemporary technique to physical theatre and performance creation.
About this collection
You'll see my students taking the stage at the Dance World Cup, and the quiet, intense work that happens in the studio beforehand. I don't just teach choreography... we drill, we condition, and we find the narrative that makes a solo feel like yours. Whether you are prepping for a global stage or just want to get out of your head and into your body, this is where we start.
My movement practice is a conversation with the body. You’ll see that reflected here—the raw energy of floorwork, the discipline of ballet-based conditioning, and the vulnerability of improvisation.
Why I Focus on 'The Process'
I often see dancers get caught up in the 'perfect' line. I prefer the honest movement. When I coach students for stages like the Dance World Cup in Portugal or Spain, we aren't just memorizing counts. We are building a relationship with the space, with the floor, and with the music.
What Training Looks Like
My classes in Bangalore (from JP Nagar to Cunningham Road) and my workshops in Mysore and Vijayawada aren't about mimicking me. They are about building your own vocabulary.
- For the Competitor: We break down formations, synchronization, and stage presence using international scoring criteria. We strip back the steps and rebuild them until they carry your voice.
- For the Explorer: If you join my contemporary flow or toolbox sessions, expect to spend time on the floor. We work on Flying Low techniques, partner work, and body awareness. It is tiring, sometimes frustrating, and always rewarding.
There is no one-size-fits-all here. I work with what you bring to the studio. If you are ready to stop performing and start moving, let’s talk.
Suraj
Hey, I'm Suraj. Movement is my language. Whether I'm coaching a team for the World Cup or working one-on-one on contemporary flow, I'm just here to help you get out of your head and into your body. Come as you are, we'll figure out the steps later.
