Kabaddi Injury Prevention and Performance Drills
Staying on the mat is just as important as being fast. These drills focus on building the stability and strength needed to prevent common kabaddi injuries during intense play.
To stay in the game, you must focus on the basics. I always teach my players that proper warm-ups and cool-downs are non-negotiable for injury prevention. Here, I am demonstrating dynamic and static stretching techniques that are crucial for every athlete to protect their body and prepare for the next session.
We build explosive power and prevent common lateral movement injuries with targeted drills. This video shows an athlete performing plyometric exercises, including tyre and box jumps, which are essential for developing the agility and strength needed on the kabaddi mat.
About Injury Prevention & Performance Drills
Speed and raiding power are useless if you are sidelined by a ligament tear. The real work is in how you prepare your joints to absorb impact during sudden turns. These drills are about fixing movement patterns before they break you, focusing on the stability required to survive a full season of matches without ending up on the bench.
Injuries in kabaddi are common, but many are preventable with the right conditioning. At my academy in Gurugram, we treat injury prevention as a non-negotiable part of daily training, not an afterthought.
My approach relies on movement science. Dynamic stretching is required before training to wake up the muscles, while static stretching comes after to improve long-term flexibility. We focus on lateral movement drills to strengthen ankles and knees, which are the most vulnerable points for any kabaddi player. Whether we are doing box jumps for explosive power or agility drills to improve footwork, every exercise is chosen to build resilience.
For those already dealing with pain, my Active Recovery Clinic offers focused sports physiotherapy. I do not use generic bandaid treatments. We look at the root cause, such as weak glutes or ankle instability, and build a recovery roadmap. This is for everyone from budding players in our residential program to athletes in Delhi NCR dealing with chronic joint stiffness. There are no shortcuts here. If you need a ligament tear recovery plan or sport-specific agility training, the goal is to get you back to peak performance safely.
