Musical Collaborations & Creative Sessions
Where my sitar meets other souls. Whether it is studio recordings, film scoring, or exploring new instrumental dialogues with fellow artists, this is my creative playground.

It's a different feeling covering a song I originally played for the movie. Here is my rendition of "Bolo Na" from the film "12th Fail," a magical creation by Shantanu Moitra uncle.

About Collaborations & Creative Sessions
When I record or perform in a collaboration, I do not just want the instruments to coexist. I look for the space between the notes. Like when I worked with Rohan Mistry on the handpan for 'Prasama', or the dialogue between my sitar and Pratik Shrivastava's sarod in 'Strings of Serenity', we focus on how the frequencies blend rather than just playing together. It is an intentional, meditative conversation, not just a performance.
Collaborative music is where my classical training meets the unpredictability of other artistic voices. It is never about 'featuring' someone; it is about creating a sound that neither of us could achieve alone. My process usually begins with a lot of conversation before we ever touch an instrument. We talk about the emotion, the mood, and the sonic landscape we want to paint. Whether I am in the studio working on film scores like '12th Fail' with Shantanu Moitra sir, or jamming live with a drummer or vocalist, the goal is always the same: authenticity.
For events and corporate projects, this translates into unique, custom ensembles. I have explored fusion with handpan, sarod, and even Western vocalists. If you are looking for a performance that goes beyond the standard setlist—something that offers a genuine musical dialogue—that is where my creative sessions come in. I bring the same rigor to these collaborations that I do to my pure classical raga performances, ensuring that the innovation is always grounded in solid musical theory.

I am Mehtab Ali Niazi. Music is my prayer, and collaborating is how I share that prayer with others. I love breaking the boundaries between classical sitar and modern soundscapes, creating something that feels both ancient and entirely new.
