Professional Sitar and Zitar Studio Sessions
From film scores to indie projects, I bring the right string texture to your music. Let's record the perfect take together.
Jamming with the talented Shaurya Saxena on his song "Neend". I played the sitar piece in the original studio recording and enjoyed recreating it live with him.
An impromptu jam session in a hotel room before a show, featuring a beautiful blend of Sitar, Santoor, and Sarangi on a traditional composition in Raag Bihag.
A random jam session in the studio, creating a fusion sound with Zitar, electric guitar, and drums. This is the kind of creative energy I bring to any fusion or rock project.
A clip from the recording of the song 'Mangal Milan', a beautiful devotional track featuring a duet between the sitar and tabla.
A throwback rehearsal video from a jam room session. Here I'm on my Zitar, working out parts with keys, violin, and handsonic percussion for a live gig.
A late-night sitar recording session with the brilliant music producer Meghdeep Bose ji. I'm always ready to work until we capture that perfect take.
A selfie with Meghdeep Bose in his studio after a productive recording session. It's always a pleasure to be a part of his creative projects.
About this collection
Getting the right Sitar tone in a mix requires more than just playing notes; it needs the right microphone placement and signal chain. Whether we are using a ribbon microphone to capture the warmth of the gourd or running my Zitar through a pedalboard for a textured, cinematic hook, I work with the producer to ensure the final stems sit exactly where they need to be in your project.
The recording studio is where my classical training from Banaras meets the reality of modern production. Whether you need a subtle, melodic Sitar line for a devotional track or an electric Zitar hook for a Bollywood dance number, my approach is built on collaboration.
The Workflow
For remote projects, I deliver high-fidelity WAV stems within 72 hours, typically providing dry and wet signals so you have full control over the mix. If you prefer to be in the room, I bring my full rig to your Mumbai studio, covering everything from setup to comping multiple takes. I am comfortable reading notation or improvising based on immediate direction.
Technical Approach
Capturing the Sitar requires patience and the right gear. I have worked with various studio setups, experimenting with different mic options to find the perfect sound for the track. For fusion work, my Zitar rig includes specific delay, reverb, and overdrive chains that I have refined over hundreds of sessions. This helps achieve that punchy sound that cuts through dense arrangements.
Experience
Having recorded for film scores and web series like 'Bandish Bandits', I understand the importance of sticking to the director's vision while adding that unique string texture that makes a track stand out. Whether it is a feature solo or background scoring, I focus on the 'click'—that moment when the music feels just right.
