I lead a life of two halves—medicine and dance. My clinical discipline brings precision to my art, while my Bharatanatyam practice brings empathy to my patients. This unique blend informs everything I teach.

In this interview, I speak about how my life as a doctor and a dancer influence each other. The discipline of medicine informs my dance practice, while the empathy from dance enriches my work as a doctor.

A milestone moment: completing my MD in Pathology. Pursuing both my passions has taught me that with dedication, you can always find time to do what you love. This discipline is what I bring to my choreographic projects.

A tribute to my two wonderful gurus, Smt. Indira Kadambi and the late Guru B Bhanumati, who have shaped me as a dancer and a person. My choreography is built on the foundation they gave me.

A happy moment with my guru and mother-in-law, Smt. Indira Kadambi. Our relationship is a blend of family, friendship, and the sacred guru-shishya bond, which deeply enriches my creative life.

About this collection

I approach choreography with the same analytical rigour I use in the pathology lab. Whether it is a traditional varnam or a thematic piece, I map out floor patterns and anatomical postures to ensure every movement is not just expressive, but sustainable and technically sound.

Many students and clients ask how I balance life at the hospital with the rigour of the dance studio. The answer lies in the discipline. As a pathologist, I am trained to look at minute details, identify patterns, and maintain unwavering focus. I bring this exact mindset to the stage. When we work on a piece together—be it a complex solo or a group ensemble—we do not just learn steps. We break down the abhinaya (expression) and the tala (rhythm) into manageable, precise sections.

My choreography is rooted in the tradition of my guru, Smt. Indira Kadambi, but I am always exploring ways to make stories feel relevant. If you are looking to develop a solo repertoire, prepare for an arangetram, or conceptualize a thematic production, we will start with a conversation about what you want to communicate. I handle everything from script research and music selection to the nitty-gritty of visual geometry for group formations. My goal is to help you perform with confidence, ensuring your body is aligned and your story is told with clarity. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned dancer, we will find a way to merge your personal vision with classical technique.
