About Bharatanatyam Classes
Why I Teach Dance
Dance has always been my way to stay grounded, even while juggling my life as a pathologist. I know how tough it is to balance passions with real-life commitments. That’s why my classes aren’t just about perfecting steps, but also about building discipline and mental strength that spills over into every part of life.
My Approach
- Start from the roots: every session kicks off with Adavu basics class to make sure the foundation is solid.
- The training is tough but rewarding. Expect to sweat, push your limits, and really work on technical precision.
- I keep things honest – it’s not always easy, but that’s how you grow, both in dance and in life.
- For me, teaching Bharatanatyam for working professionals isn’t just about the dance. It’s about helping you find your rhythm, even if you’re busy or stressed.
What We Cover
- Beginners to advanced - everyone’s welcome.
- We learn everything from simple steps to full pieces: Alarippu, Jathiswaram, Kauthuvam, Varnam, Thillana.
- A big focus on Abhinaya workshops - because feeling the dance is as important as nailing the moves.
- Classes are in-person at HSR Layout or online for folks from anywhere.
My Lineage
I’m lucky to have learnt from legends, including my Amma (mother-in-law), Acharya Smt. Indira Kadambi. My journey started over a decade ago with Guru B. Bhanumati and Smt. Sheela Chandrasekhar, and I had my arangetram under Guru Nagamani Srinivasa Rao. This background shapes everything I share in class.
If you love dance but also have a busy life, you’ll fit right in.

My Story
Namaskara! I'm Dr. Ramya Suresh. Some folks call me the dancing doctor. Medicine and Bharatanatyam both run deep for me—one's science, one's soul, but really, I can't imagine life without either. My guru and my Amma, Smt. Indira Kadambi, keeps me grounded, and my late Guru Bhanumati shaped my roots. Born in Punjab, so yes, I groove to Bhangra too! Dance, hospital shifts, paneer cravings—life’s full, but I love it.
My Work
Performances & Classes - I do solo, duet, and thematic Bharatanatyam shows. I teach too—beginners or advanced, online or in-person, all welcome!
Rooted in Tradition - My dance carries the style of my guru, Smt. Indira Kadambi. I perform margam repertoire and expressive abhinaya pieces.
Creative Productions - I love crafting my own thematic Bharatanatyam choreography—concept, script, emotion, all from scratch.
Favourite Moments on Stage - One day, I’m Yashoda scaring Krishna, next day, Radha lost in love. It’s all about feeling the story.
