Master Specialty Pottery Techniques in Bengaluru
Move past the basics and explore the art of clay. Whether you want to master the marbled patterns of Nerikomi or the fine carving of Sgraffito, my technique-focused workshops will help you level up your pottery game while having fun. ✨
Nerikomi is the beautiful art of layering colored clay to create intricate patterns. This video shows the process, from layering the clay to trimming the final piece on the wheel.
Another look at my 2-day Sgraffito workshop. You'll learn how to apply underglaze and then carve away to reveal your unique design.
Learn flower imprint pottery with me! In this workshop, we press real flowers and leaves into clay to create beautiful, natural textures on plates and trays.
About Specialty Technique Workshops
These aren't generic classes where you just watch and copy. We dive deep into the technical process, like how to properly layer colored clay for Nerikomi or how to achieve the perfect depth with Sgraffito carving tools. It takes patience, but you will leave with a piece you truly crafted from scratch, and I will be right there to guide your hands whenever you get stuck.
Explore Advanced Clay Techniques
If you have been to a beginner class and caught the pottery bug, these specialty workshops are your next step. I have designed these sessions to focus on specific, high-skill areas:
- Nerikomi (Colored Clay): This is all about precision and color blending. We layer different colored clay blocks, slice them, and assemble them on the wheel. It is incredibly rewarding to watch a pattern emerge as you trim the clay.
- Sgraffito: This is where we get a bit graphic. We apply an underglaze to the leather-hard clay and then carve through the surface to reveal the clay body beneath. It is fantastic for detailed illustrations, floral motifs, or text.
- Flower Imprinting: A more organic approach. We use real leaves and flowers found locally to press textures directly into the clay, creating unique, nature-inspired surface patterns.
What to expect at the studio
Located in Jeevan Bima Nagar, my studio is designed to be a calm space where you can focus on these details without feeling rushed. You do not need to be a professional artist to try these techniques. I break down the steps, provide all the tools, and handle the firing process so your creations are durable and ready for home use. Whether you are looking for a unique weekend hobby or want to improve your existing pottery skills, let’s get messy and make something beautiful. 🫶
