Meet the Artists Behind the Beats
Behind every thunderous beat of our Chendamelam is a story of discipline, strength, and brotherhood. Meet the artists who make the music happen.

About Portraits of Passion: Our Artists
You see the energy and the smiles, but holding a 13kg chenda for three hours is real work. We call it our pain threshold, and it is exactly this commitment that ensures the rhythm stays sharp from the first beat to the last. When you book us, you are getting a team that treats every single performance with that same intensity, whether it is a small reception or a grand procession.
People often ask what keeps us going through hours of high-intensity playing in the Bangalore heat. It comes down to the brotherhood. We aren't just a troupe. We are a group of friends, students, and mentors who grew up with the Chenda. Our process starts long before we reach your venue. It begins at our studio in T. Dasarahalli, where we practice our rhythms until they are ingrained in our muscle memory.
We take pride in keeping the traditional art form of Shinkarimelam alive while adding our own modern flair. You might see us performing in traditional Kerala attire at a wedding, or perhaps incorporating cinematic BGM beats for a college festival. We believe in versatility. Whether it is a compact 5-artist ensemble for a store inauguration or a 20-member powerhouse for a temple festival, our focus remains on precision.
We also pass the torch. We train young students for their Chenda Arangetam, teaching them the discipline required to handle the instruments. This ensures that the energy of the Chenda continues for the next generation. When we walk into a venue, whether it is a hotel like the JW Marriott or a local community ground, we do not just show up to play. We show up to create an atmosphere. If you are looking for a percussion team that understands the weight of the tradition and the energy of a modern celebration, we are ready to bring the beat.
