About this collection

Planning a traditional performance requires more than just booking talent; it demands proper logistical preparation. For our Yakshagana and Kathakali sets, we require a dedicated, private space for our artists to apply their intricate makeup and dress in traditional costumes for at least three hours before the show. This ensures the authenticity and visual impact of every performance.

Our Cultural Mission

We are Kalaarohana Arts, and we view ourselves as conservators of heritage. Our featured collection represents the pinnacle of our repertoire, bringing authentic folk traditions from Karnataka and Kerala to modern stages. Whether you are hosting a wedding, a corporate exhibition, or a private festival, we provide performances that feel raw and connected to history.

Why Our Performances Stand Out

Unlike commercial entertainment, our acts avoid recorded tracks, preferring the living power of traditional instruments. We provide the full experience:

  • Percussion Power: Our Dollu Kunita and Chendemelam troupes bring high-energy rhythms perfect for grand entries, processions, and festival openings.
  • Dramatic Storytelling: Our Yakshagana and Kathakali performances offer theatre rooted in epic narratives from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. We include a brief narration in English or Kannada to ensure your guests connect with the context.
  • Unique Fusions: We frequently create custom acts, such as blending the graceful Mohiniyattam with the drama of Kathakali, to perfectly match the theme and tone of your celebration.

Essential Logistics

To maintain the high quality of our traditional arts, we have specific requirements:

  • Performance Space: For martial arts like Kalaripayattu or acrobatic acts, we need a clear stage area of at least 20x15 ft to ensure safety during weapon usage.
  • Setup Time: Our makeup artists (Bannagarike) need access to a private green room several hours before the event. This applies particularly to Huli Vesha and character-based dance dramas.
  • Customization: We adapt to your crowd. Whether you need a 60-minute stage show or a shorter appearance for a wedding procession, we adjust our lineup to fit your schedule.
