MMA Sparring and Grappling Training
Sparring is where theory meets reality. Here in the akhada, we simulate real combat to test your technique and sharpen your reflexes for when it actually matters.
This is what real training looks like. Full-contact sparring where students learn to combine kicks, punches, and clinch work under my supervision.
A dynamic sparring session in progress. A student throws a punch while his partner practices defensive head movement and prepares to counter. This is how you sharpen your mind and body.
Training for all aspects of a fight. This sequence shows a student practicing clinch work, knee strikes, and defensive footwork in a live sparring drill.
Challenge is the path to victory. This kickboxing sparring session shows two students testing their timing, distance, and combinations in a controlled but intense exchange.
Understanding the choke is the first step to defending it. I am demonstrating the application of a rear-naked choke (RNC), a fundamental submission in grappling.
Here, I show the pressure points on the neck used to make a choke effective. Knowledge is power, both in attack and defense.
This is the proper way to defend against a rear-naked choke. I teach my students how to create space and protect their airway to escape a dangerous position.
Ground control is essential. This image shows a wrestling drill where one student learns how to control an opponent on the mat.
From conditioning to combat. This video shows a student transitioning from plyometric jumps to pad work and finally to grappling drills on the mat.
About The Akhada: MMA Sparring & Grappling
We don't train in air-conditioned comfort, and we don't hold back. Sparring here involves full-contact exchanges where you learn to manage distance, handle a clinch, and defend against a real-world chokehold. You leave the mats knowing exactly what your weaknesses are, which is the only way to actually fix them.
Many people learn moves on a heavy bag, but the moment they face a resisting opponent, everything falls apart. At MAAFAI, we force that friction early. You start with basic kickboxing combinations and quickly move to grappling drills that teach you how to maintain control when things get messy.
Whether you are learning to defend a rear-naked choke or practicing clinch work, the goal is survival, not trophies. We focus on:
- Positional Sparring: Learning how to gain the upper hand when you are on the ground.
- Defensive Reactions: Training your body to protect your airway and create space instead of freezing in panic.
- Combined Striking: Transitioning seamlessly from punches and kicks into takedowns.
Our training floor is equipped with 25mm-30mm EVA puzzle mats specifically to support this kind of ground-based movement. We keep the environment raw to build endurance, meaning you get a workout that tests your lungs as much as your fighting technique.
This isn't a hobby for us. Every drill, from pad work to live grappling, is designed to build the confidence to handle a real-world confrontation. If you are in Greater Noida and want to stop theorizing about fighting and start actually doing it, step onto the mat.
Maafai
I started MAAFAI to show people that strength isn't just physical, it is a mindset you build in the fire of the akhada. I do not care about your fitness level today, only your willingness to push past your fear and start training.
