About this collection
Most summer camps are about keeping children occupied, but ours are different. We build actual life skills through play, whether that is navigating market trips and cooking tasks during our 'Thrive on the Spectrum' module, or developing proprioception and core strength through the sensory gym in our 'Neuromove' camp. We intentionally create quiet gaps in the schedule, allowing your child to regulate and explore at their own pace rather than forcing them into a rigid, non-stop activity routine.
At Learning Matters, our summer programs are less about 'activities' and more about 'engagements.' We reject the idea that a child needs to be constantly managed. Instead, we use our Green Park center as a third teacher, with spaces intentionally set up to invite curiosity and self-directed exploration.
Our Core Programs
- Thrive on the Spectrum: A specialized module for neurodivergent children. We focus on real-world capabilities, like building social navigation skills through supervised restaurant visits or practicing executive function via kitchen and market adventures. This is not about 'fixing' social behavior; it is about providing a safe, sensory-friendly container where your child can practice meaningful connection.
- Neuromove Camp: This is an occupational therapy-based journey. If your child struggles with focus, needs vestibular or proprioceptive input, or finds fine motor tasks like handwriting frustrating, this program provides a joyful, movement-based environment to build that foundation. We use trampolines, bolster swings, and creative art projects to support physical and emotional regulation.
Why Our Approach Matters
We operate with small, high-ratio groups (typically 1:3 or 1:4) because safety and regulation are our primary concerns. By following the Reggio Emilia approach, we treat the process of learning as the goal. Whether we are mixing paint, hammering ice blocks, or going on a field trip, we are gathering data on your child's developmental milestones and helping them feel confident in their own skin. We provide daily progress updates to parents, ensuring you are part of the journey every step of the way.
