Featured Handcrafted Projects & Workshop Highlights
A look at what my students have built from scratch, from Japanese Kumiko lamps to custom wooden furniture.
This is what it's all about. Taking raw wood and turning it into something that not only works but also brings a warm glow to your space. This handcrafted Kumiko lamp, with its delicate Asa-no-ha pattern, is a project you can build in my specialized workshop.
Look at these smiles. This is what a typical weekend at the workshop looks like. People from all walks of life, most with zero prior experience, holding something they built with their own hands. We made everything from clocks to small tables this day.
There is something incredibly satisfying about using a hand plane. This is where you can find your flow state, watching the wood shavings curl up as you shape a piece of timber. It's a core skill I teach in my beginner and advanced hand tool workshops.
Yes, you can even build a five-level cat tree for your furry overlord. This project was built over two days using turned Salwood pillars and Birch plywood. It’s a perfect example of how you can use the skills you learn here to create truly custom furniture.
The grand finale. Sreeja and Nivedita with the beautiful Kumiko lamps they built from scratch. They learned to make the frames, cut the intricate half-lap joints, and assemble the entire piece. The best part is seeing their faces when they switch it on for the first time.
Woodworking isn't just about static objects. This is a little mechanical toy, an automaton, I prototyped from scrap wood. It's a fantastic way to learn about simple mechanics like cams and levers, all while telling a fun story.
This is the zone. A quiet moment of focus in the workshop, where the only things that matter are the wood, the tool, and your hands. I provide the space and guidance for you to find this creative escape from the everyday hustle.
Vijeth got an introduction to using hand tools and built this sturdy little stool. It’s a fantastic first project that teaches the fundamentals of joinery and finishing, and you get to take home a piece of functional furniture.

You might look at these photos and think, 'I could never build that.' Trust me, you can. Most of the people you see here started exactly where you are—staring at a raw piece of pine, wondering how to hold a chisel. We strip away the intimidation, focusing on real skills like joinery and safe power tool handling, so you aren't just watching me work; you are the one actually cutting the wood.
My workshops are not about sitting through lectures. They are built around the philosophy that making something with your hands beats scrolling through a feed every single time. Whether you want to assemble a Japanese Kumiko lamp or build a sturdy side table for your apartment, the process is hands-on from minute one. I keep the batches small—typically 6 to 10 people—because I want to make sure everyone gets enough time on the tools, whether it is a Makita router or a Japanese pull saw.
We cover the basics of woodworking, but we get into the fun stuff too. We talk about wood grain, why your joints might not be fitting (and how to fix them), and how to safely operate circular saws and drill presses. It is messy, it is loud, and you will walk away with sawdust in your hair. But there is nothing quite like the feeling of looking at a shelf or stool and knowing you didn't buy it—you built it. If you are in Bangalore or Pune and looking for a way to disconnect from the digital grind, come by the studio. No prior experience is required, just a bit of curiosity.
Kydo
I started Kydo to trade keyboards for sawdust and get people back to making real things. I run workshops in Bangalore and Pune where we keep the vibe chilled, the tools sharp, and the focus on actually building stuff, not just talking about it.
