About Your First Weekend Workshop: From Beginner to Builder

You don’t need to bring anything except clothes you don’t mind getting dusty. We provide all the safety gear, Russian Birch plywood, pine wood, and power tools like jigsaws and routers. By the end of the 12+ hour weekend bootcamp, you will walk away with four finished projects, like a storage crate or a sturdy stool, having learned how to measure, cut, and assemble them yourself.

What Happens Over the Weekend?

The 12-hour foundation course is structured to move you quickly from theory to the bench. We keep batches small (6 to 10 people) to ensure you get plenty of time with the tools and consistent supervision. Saturday and Sunday are about understanding the 'why' behind the wood, not just the 'how'.

Skills You Will Pick Up

  • Precision Basics: You will learn the logic of joinery, how to measure without waste, and the importance of accurate marking.
  • Power Tool Confidence: We demystify the intimidating gear. You will get hands-on with jigsaws, circular saws, palm routers, and drill presses.
  • Hand Tool Fundamentals: Before the power tools, we use the basics. You will get comfortable with chisels, hand planes, and measuring instruments.
  • The Finishing Touch: Learn how to glue, clamp, and apply varnish to give your project a clean, professional look.

Why This Matters

Most students arrive as complete beginners. The goal isn't just to make a shelf; it is to hit that flow state where you stop thinking about your emails and start thinking about the grain of the wood. We work with Pine and Russian Birch, which are forgiving enough for learning but sturdy enough to actually use in your home.

Whether you are a student, an engineer, or just someone curious about making, you will leave with functional items you made with your own two hands. We handle the safety and the cleanup; you just need to show up ready to work.

I started Kydo because I wanted a space where people could trade screens for sawdust and actually make something tangible. I am here to teach you the safety and logic behind the tools so you feel confident enough to build, not just watch.
