From local theatre stages to international festival grounds, these photos capture the essence of my journey in Kuchipudi. Each event represents our commitment to tradition and the live energy of classical dance.

This poster announced our performance for 'Nadaneerajanam' on the SVBC TV Channel, a devotional offering to Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala.

It was a great honor to be invited to perform at the Kuchipudi Flag Golden Jubilee celebrations in Kuchipudi village, the birthplace of our dance form.

The poster for 'Kavi Pranāmam', a dance festival organized by my school to celebrate the compositions of great Indian poets through different classical dance styles.

This poster is for 'Saranagati', a celebration of Indian Classical Dance featuring esteemed artists from Kathak, Mohiniyattam, Bharatanatyam, and Kuchipudi.

I was delighted to be part of the Mūlam National Dance Festival, where I performed and participated in a panel discussion on the Guru-Shishya relationship.

About Event Gallery: A Portfolio of Our Work

You will notice that in most of these performances, my students and I dance alongside a live orchestra featuring mridangam, flute, and nattuvangam. This creates a dynamic, responsive atmosphere that a recorded track simply cannot match, and it remains a non-negotiable part of every production I create.

Our Performances: A Commitment to Tradition

Every event listed in this gallery, from the intimate settings of the Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi to grander stages like the Jagriti Theatre in Bangalore, is an effort to keep Kuchipudi relevant and alive. My work is not just about executing steps, but about maintaining the Vempati Chinna Satyam style with absolute discipline.

Why Live Music Matters

When we perform for festivals like Saranagati or Kavi Pranāmam, the priority is always the collaboration with live musicians. Unlike performing to a pre-recorded track, dancing with a live ensemble allows for spontaneity. If you are looking to book a troupe, understand that this integration of live percussion and melody is what separates a routine show from a truly spiritual experience. It requires coordination, but the resulting energy for the audience is undeniable.

Diverse Stages, One Focus

My team and I are as comfortable performing for educational initiatives—like our SPIC MACAY demonstrations in Champawat—as we are presenting professional recitals in Europe or at Kuchipudi village itself. Whether it is a thematic production like Raṅg or a devotional offering at Tirumala, the goal remains the same: to present the richness of our heritage in a way that is accessible yet authentic. We do not compromise on the purity of the Nāṭyasāstra theory or the technical rigor of Aḍugulu footwork, regardless of the venue size.

Namaste, I’m Avijit Das. For me, dance is a continuous dialogue, whether I am performing a solo piece in Ireland or guiding my students through their debut in Bangalore. My work is dedicated to keeping the Vempati Chinna Satyam style alive and vibrant for everyone to experience.
