About Kuchipudi Dance Performances
What Dance Means to Me
Dance is my way of staying connected to life and sharing something raw and real, not just perfect moves. Kuchipudi is in my bones, and every time I get on stage, I try to bring that honest energy and emotion.
Performance Formats
I perform Kuchipudi for all kinds of events - festivals, corporate gigs, even small family gatherings.
- Solo recitals: I dig deep into the traditional Kuchipudi repertoire and add my own twist. You’ll see everything from classic Tillanas to expressive Padams, with storytelling at the heart.
- Group choreography in Kuchipudi: Me and my team from Kimaham School put together big productions, moving as one to tell epic stories.
- Themed dance theatre productions: I create shows like "KĀLA - The God of Death" and "Raṅg - The Blue Color Lord," mixing theatre and dance. Sometimes I team up for jugalbandi with other classical forms.
Live Music, Always
For me, nothing beats performing with live classical dance music. I try to bring in vocalists, percussion, and flute whenever possible. It just lifts everyone, me included.
My Roots and Training
I trained in the Sri Vempati Chinna Satyam tradition, under my Mastergaru. I keep the old school alive but also love to push boundaries. This art keeps evolving, and so do I.

My Story
Namaste, I’m Avijit Das. Dance is like breathing to me – can’t imagine life without it. My Gurus, my Mastergaru, shaped my journey and now I get to pass that on at Kimaham. Teaching feels like magic, especially seeing students nail their Rangapravesham after years of sweat. Awards like Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Yuva Pratibha Samman? Humbled, grateful, but it’s the art and the audience that matter most. Bengaluru, Europe, anywhere – connection is everything.

Jugalbandi & Collaborations - Love mixing Kuchipudi with Bharatanatyam, Sattriya, and joining art panel discussions too.
