About Kuchipudi Classes & Workshops
Why I Teach Kuchipudi
Dance is my lifeblood - it’s what keeps me going. I learned Kuchipudi from my Mastergaru, Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam, and now I pass that tradition on to my students. You don’t have to be perfect, just present. That’s how real learning happens.
What to Expect in My Classes
I stick to the Guru-Shishya Parampara Kuchipudi style. It’s not just teaching steps - I build a strong bond with each student, guiding them through the art with heart and discipline. Training covers:
- Vempati Chinna Satyam style training
- All the basics, like traditional Aḍugulu footwork
- Complex choreography and theory from texts like Nāṭyasāstra
- Repertoire from my Guru’s lineage and new pieces I create
The Dancer’s Journey
Classical dance takes patience and serious riyaaz (practice). For those who stay committed, we work towards Rangapravesham solo debut, which is a huge moment for any dancer. I’ll be there with you every step.
Workshops & More
If you want something short and focused, I run Abhinaya expression workshops and lecture-demonstrations on Kuchipudi’s history and theory. You can join online or in person, depending on where you are.
Dancing with Live Musicians
I make sure my students get to experience dancing with live musicians, especially during major performances. There’s nothing like feeling the music right there with you.

My Story
Namaste, I’m Avijit Das. Dance is like breathing to me – can’t imagine life without it. My Gurus, my Mastergaru, shaped my journey and now I get to pass that on at Kimaham. Teaching feels like magic, especially seeing students nail their Rangapravesham after years of sweat. Awards like Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Yuva Pratibha Samman? Humbled, grateful, but it’s the art and the audience that matter most. Bengaluru, Europe, anywhere – connection is everything.
My Work
Kuchipudi Performances & Training - I offer solo, group shows, and Rangapravesham training at Kimaham. All ages welcome.
Traditional & New Choreography - From classic Mastergaru pieces to my own productions, I perform across India and abroad.
Live Ensemble Experience - Most shows feature live music - mridangam, flute, nattuvangam - the energy is unbeatable.
Guru-Shishya Parampara - I guide students in classic and new pieces, focusing on their growth and connection with the art.
Jugalbandi & Collaborations - Love mixing Kuchipudi with Bharatanatyam, Sattriya, and joining art panel discussions too.
