We believe art lives in the stories objects hold. Step into our space to explore tactile, mixed-media installations and sculptures that invite you to pause, listen, and connect.

About Sculpture & Mixed Media

When you interact with our installations like the Orma Petti memory box, you aren’t just looking at a sculpture. You are invited to pick up headphones, listen to the narrative behind a physical object, and become part of a growing, shared history. We treat every piece as a container for human experience, where the physical form—be it wood, glass, or light—is only half the story.

Beyond the Object

At Kānike, we move away from the idea that art is static. In our sculpture and mixed media work, the material choices—often raw, repurposed, or tactile—are intentional. Whether it is an installation involving light and reclaimed wood or a sculpture meant to be touched, our goal is to bridge the gap between the maker and the viewer.

The Orma Petti Series

Our 'Orma Petti' (memory box) project is a prime example of our process. It is a permanent installation at our Cooke Town studio, designed as a receptacle for memories. We collaborate with various artists—like sculptor Fastin Pedros—to place objects within this box. Each object comes with an audio narrative, turning a visual piece into a multi-sensory experience. It asks a simple question: does an object hold a memory, or do we?

Making Art Accessible

We do not believe in keeping art behind velvet ropes. Our studio is an open, working space. You are welcome to walk in, see works-in-progress, and discuss the techniques behind our sculptures and mixed media experiments. We use this approach because we believe that understanding the 'how'—the labor, the chemical processes, the assembly—makes the final piece more meaningful.

If you have a vision for a custom piece or are looking for a specific type of installation for your space, we work collaboratively to realize it. From initial brief and material selection to the final, handmade execution, we keep the process transparent and rooted in our analog traditions.
