We transform our Cooke Town studio into a space for dialogue and discovery. From solo shows featuring local talent to international collaborations, our exhibitions explore themes of memory, identity, and the handmade process.

The official invitation to "Past Summers," a solo show by Krishnamurthy P.S. The exhibition showcased his incredible ability to breathe life into found objects from nature.

To celebrate the closing of the "Past Summers" exhibition, the artist himself cooked a special Panchavalli Mutton Saaru and Ragi Mudde dinner, sharing a family recipe with our community.

A couple admiring a series of cyanotype prints on display. The distinct blue of the cyanotype process always draws attention and sparks conversation.

About Curated Exhibitions & Installations

Our exhibitions are rarely just about looking at art on a white wall. Whether it is an artist-in-residence sharing a home-cooked meal at a closing night or a walkthrough where we discuss the raw chemistry behind a print, we keep the process visible and the conversation flowing. You are always invited to engage, ask questions, and be part of the dialogue while you visit.

At Kānike, we see an exhibition as a living project. We view our space in Cooke Town not as a sterile gallery, but as a studio that opens its doors to the public, inviting you to see works-in-progress and engage directly with the creators.

Our Approach to Curation

We do not stick to a single format. Our shows are defined by the stories they tell and the connections they foster:

  • Deep-Dive Solo Shows: We spotlight artists like Krishnamurthy P.S., whose 'Past Summers' exhibition explored found natural objects and brought a sense of tactile nostalgia to our walls.
  • Collaborative Projects: We frequently partner with institutions like MAP Bangalore and the British Council, such as our 'Inheritance' project, which bridged narratives between South Asia and the UK.
  • Community Engagement: Every exhibition, whether in Bangalore or at partners like Blueprint12 in Delhi, is an opportunity to share our passion for alternative processes—cyanotypes, gumoil, and albumen silver prints.

How to Experience Our Shows

We believe art should be accessible. There is no pomp, no ticketed entry, and no need to book an appointment to walk through our gallery. When we host a show, it is a casual environment where you can chat with the artists, understand the techniques behind the work, and perhaps even join us for a closing dinner or an artist talk. We encourage you to follow our updates and drop by to experience the studio vibe firsthand.
