At Kānike, we believe art flourishes when we create together. Our studio is a home for residencies, outreach programs, and deep partnerships that bring together voices from Bengaluru and beyond.

A cyanotype print created by a child during our outreach day with the Garike initiative in Kolar district. The children used found objects and their own hands to make art.

A delicate feather photogram made with the cyanotype process. It was a joy to watch the children of Garike explore their creativity with this sun-printing technique.

An abstract cyanotype made with flowers and leaves by one of the children at Garike. They quickly took over the process, turning it into their own joyful exploration.

A beautiful botanical cyanotype print created during our community workshop. The children learned the Kannada names for the plants they gathered to create their art.

Felix Baßler, our first artist-in-residence through the bangaloREsidency program with the Goethe-Institut. During his stay, he explored an analog technique called 'slit scan photography'.

The poster for the "nothing knew." exhibition, showcasing the work of six young photographers from our collaboration with MAP, the British Council, and partners in Glasgow.

An introduction to two of the talented young photographers, Nidhi and Pragyna, who participated in the Our Shared Cultural Heritage (OSCH) programme.

Bios for Aryan and Ganesh, two more participants in the OSCH project, who explored visual storytelling and documentary filmmaking.

Meet Sacheth and Tanvi, who brought their passion for photography and design to the OSCH project, culminating in a fantastic group exhibition at our studio.

A quiet moment of solitary work late at night in the studio. We nurture both collaboration and the focused solitude that is essential for an artist's practice.

About Community, Residencies & Collaborations

Collaboration here isn't just about big institutional projects; it happens in the quiet moments between workshops. We keep our studio doors open for artists-in-residence and local initiatives like Garike because we know the best creative breakthroughs happen when we simply share a space and a pot of tea.

Our studio is built on the belief that art is a gift to be shared, not just an object to be sold. This is why we dedicate so much of our energy to community-building and residencies. Whether it is our partnership with the Goethe-Institut for the bangaloREsidency or our deep involvement in the Our Shared Cultural Heritage (OSCH) project with MAP and the British Council, we focus on projects that explore identity, memory, and history.

We do not just host artists; we integrate them into the pulse of our Cooke Town studio. You will often find our resident artists working alongside students, young photographers, and curious locals. It is a space where a slit-scan photography project can happen in the same room where we are teaching cyanotype to school children from Karamanahalli.

We encourage you to visit us not as a customer, but as a potential collaborator. If you have a project that needs a home or a story that needs a medium, our doors are open. We value the messy, unpredictable process of co-creation over perfection, and we invite you to be part of that ongoing conversation.
