About this collection

I do not just copy a photo; I reconstruct it. Every painting starts with a detailed pencil sketch directly on the canvas, ensuring the likeness is perfect before I touch any paint. Whether I am using acrylics for that high-contrast vibrancy or oils for a soft, classic finish, the real work happens in the layering process, which gives the final piece its physical depth and texture.

It is common for people to ask if these are digital prints. They are not. Each piece is a physical object—a stretched cotton canvas that starts as a blank surface and evolves through several distinct phases.

The first step is always the layout. I map out the subject's features with a pencil directly on the canvas. This is the foundation. If the features aren't right in the sketch, the painting will not work, so I take my time here.

Next comes the underpainting. This is where I define the lights and darks. If you choose the vibrant acrylic style, I focus on bold, saturated colors and abstract backgrounds that make the subject stand out. If you prefer the classic oil style, I work in slower, deliberate layers, focusing on blending to get those realistic skin tones and soft transitions.

The final phase is protection. Once the paint is cured, I apply a layer of clear gloss varnish. This is not just for shine—it seals the paint and protects your portrait from dust, moisture, and UV light, ensuring it stays as clear in fifteen years as it is on the day you receive it.

Whether you are commissioning a family portrait or a memorial piece from an old photograph, the process remains the same: meticulous, hands-on, and focused on turning your memory into something you can hold.
