We recreate the grand, soul-stirring energy of Kerala’s iconic temple festivals here in Bangalore. From our synchronized Panchari Melam to the roaring 'simha garjjanam', our ensembles deliver the same spiritual fervor you would witness at the Thrissur Pooram.

A proud moment for us as our artists are selected to perform at the iconic Thrissur Pooram, a significant milestone for our Sangham.

About Grand Festivals: The Pooram Experience

When you opt for a 30+ artist ensemble, we do not just show up to play. We require a clear, dedicated courtyard or stage area for our multi-row formation, as this is the only way to achieve the true acoustic power of a festival Melam. We focus heavily on the 'Kalasam', which is the synchronized finale where every single artist strikes in absolute unison to create that signature, thunderous wall of sound.

Our tradition of festival percussion is built on 15 years of rigorous discipline. The 'Grand Pooram' experience is not merely about volume; it is a complex, orchestrated performance led by our Mela Pramani. When we perform at venues across Karnataka or Kerala, we are meticulously managing the tempo shifts from the slow, meditative cycles of Panchari Melam to the high-energy, fast-paced rush of Pandi Melam.

Why Scale Matters

For a true Pooram-style experience, we bring a 30 to 50+ strong team, including the crucial wind section of Kombu (horns) and Kuzhal (pipes). These instruments are essential to cut through the heavy percussion, providing the melodic texture that makes the performance grand rather than just loud.

What to Expect at Your Event

  • Precision: Our ensembles operate as a single unit. Whether we are at a temple festival or a cultural program, the synchronization of our percussionists is the result of years of Gurukulam training.
  • Authenticity: We perform only in the traditional attire of white Mundu with a Kasavu border, ensuring the visual experience matches the sonic one.
  • The Maestros: Our performances are frequently led by our own senior faculty, and we have the privilege of performing alongside legendary maestros, which keeps our standards at the peak of classical percussion.

If you are planning an event that requires this level of cultural grandeur, please note that we do require adequate space to accommodate the multi-row formation, as well as a dedicated area for the artists to prepare and maintain their instruments throughout the performance.

We are a family, a gurukulam of over 800 students dedicated to the purity of Kerala’s percussion arts. When we perform, it is not just music; it is an offering of devotion, carrying the legacy of the temple festival tradition from our roots in Kerala to every venue we bless.
