My Journey & Coaching Philosophy
From a village mud court to winning gold for India, my life in Kabaddi is defined by discipline, hard work, and a relentless passion for the game.
My journey in Kabaddi started in a small village and took me to the world stage, winning an Asian Games gold medal for India. This video shows my story of 'mehnat' and 'junoon', from being a player to my current mission: mentoring the next generation of champion coaches.
This is how we train champions. Kabaddi is not just a sport, it is an education in courage and teamwork. In my mentorship program, I share the same drills and methods that I learned in international play, focusing on discipline and bringing out the champion within every player.
Receiving the Arjuna Award from the President of India was a defining moment in my career. This award represents years of hard work and dedication to Kabaddi, and it is the standard of excellence I bring to my coaching and mentorship.
This is the catch that helped win the gold medal for India at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games. Moments like these are built on strategy, strength, and perfect timing, which are key principles I teach in my defensive skills training for coaches.
Kabaddi is a game of discipline. A coach's aggression destroys the spirit of the sport and sets a poor example for young players. I believe a coach's primary role is to provide direction and control emotions, a core topic we cover in my mentorship.
Here I am with the next generation of Kabaddi coaches selected for the NIS Diploma Course at the Sports Authority of India in Bengaluru. My goal is to help build a community of skilled coaches who will elevate the sport and prepare new champions for India.
This is where it all began, on the mud courts where I first learned the meaning of team spirit and victory. My journey from the 'gaon' to glory inspires my coaching, reminding me that with hard work, any player can achieve their dreams.
About Featured
In my sessions, we move beyond basic drills. Whether you are correcting your toe touch technique or learning how to read defensive formations, I focus on the mechanics of weight distribution and reaction time. I do not just teach you how to play; I teach you how to manage the mental game, control aggression, and build the discipline required to transition from local matches to a professional level.
Kabaddi is more than just a sport to me. It is a legacy that starts from the mud courts of my village and reaches the synthetic mats of international arenas. When I mentor, I aim to create coaches and players who understand the weight of that responsibility.
Technical Mastery
We dissect the essential mechanics of the game. We work on:
- Offense: Precision in toe touches and running hand touches, ensuring your weight is perfectly balanced for a quick retreat.
- Defense: Mastering ankle holds and thigh holds with timing that prevents unnecessary fouls.
- Adaptation: Understanding the crucial difference between playing on mud clay courts versus synthetic mats, as the friction and impact change how you move.
The Mental Game
Discipline is the first lesson. I see too many talented players lose because they let aggression take over in the heat of the moment. My mentorship covers how to maintain calm, structure your team's strategy, and identify talent that has raw potential. If you are looking to move from club level to competitive representation, we will work on the tactical analysis and emotional control that selectors look for. My goal is to ensure you leave the mat not just as a stronger player, but as a more focused, disciplined individual.
