Squash Training: Athletic Conditioning and Agility Drills
Squash is as much about footwork as it is about the swing. We focus on specific agility, speed, and conditioning drills to help you outlast opponents on the court.
Agility is non-negotiable in squash. Our junior players build quick feet and coordination with agility ladder drills, making them faster and more balanced on the court.
On-court sprints are a fantastic way to build sport-specific speed and improve recovery time between points. We push our players to give it their all.
A Monday session starting with agility ladder warm-ups. This kind of footwork drill is essential for developing the explosive movement needed in a fast-paced squash match.
Fitness extends beyond the court. Here you can see our players incorporating cardio workouts like treadmill running into their training regimen to build stamina and endurance.
About this collection
Our approach at Bellandur and PLaY Arena bridges the gap between gym fitness and court performance. You will move through agility ladder drills to sharpen footwork, followed by high-intensity ghosting and court sprints to boost the endurance needed for tournament-length matches.
Why Conditioning Matters in Squash
Squash is a high-intensity sport. If your legs give out, your technique suffers. We don't just teach you to hit a ball; we train you to move efficiently so you can maintain accuracy even in the fifth set.
How We Train
We combine on-court sessions with off-court strength work to build a well-rounded athlete. This includes:
- Agility Drills: Using ladders and cones to improve rapid direction changes and balance.
- Court Sprints: Building explosive speed and the ability to recover to the 'T' quickly.
- Gym Integration: We work with facilities like Plej Fitness for strength training that supports squash-specific muscle groups, helping prevent common injuries like ankle rolls and knee strain.
- Ghosting: Shadow-playing to practice court movement without the ball, allowing you to focus purely on your swing mechanics and footwork patterns.
Who This Is For
Whether you are a junior player looking to gain an edge in state tournaments or an adult wanting to improve your game and stamina, these sessions are tailored to your current fitness level. We track your progress, adjusting the intensity of drills as you get stronger and faster.
