A traditional mehfil is more than just a setlist, it is about creating the right environment. When you are planning your event, think about the space. If you want that deep, seated energy with harmonium and tabla, we need an intimate area where guests can sit close and truly listen. If you are aiming for a lively club vibe, I can blend those same Sufi roots with a full band setup to get the energy high while keeping the soul intact.
The Two Sides of My Music
My work with Sufi and Qawwali takes two distinct forms. The first is the Traditional Mehfil, inspired by the greats like Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. We sit, we connect, and we let the words do the work. This setup usually involves a tabla, a harmonium, and minimal amplification. It is perfect for private gatherings where people want to experience the raw emotion of 'Koi Fariyaad' or 'Laagi Tumse Man Ki Lagan'.
The second is Sufi Fusion, which is how I bring this music to clubs and larger parties. By adding electric guitars, drums, and bass, we keep the tempo high. Songs like 'Saanson Ki Mala' get a new life this way, becoming perfect for standing crowds.
Why the Setup Matters
Because I perform both intimate acoustic sets and full-band shows across Delhi NCR and Dubai, the technical requirements change significantly.
- For intimate spaces: We need a clean, quiet environment. I perform solo or with a small acoustic duo, focusing on clarity over volume.
- For larger venues: We need a professional PA system. If we are using a dholak or tabla in a louder room, high-quality sub-woofers are non-negotiable to make sure the rhythm carries through the space.
Customizing Your Event
I treat every performance as a new journey. Whether you are hosting a wedding function, a corporate evening, or a restaurant gig, I don't just show up and sing. We discuss the crowd, the mood you want, and the kind of energy you are expecting. My goal is to make sure that by the end of the night, everyone leaves with a little more sukoon than when they arrived.
