Learn Satellite Communication from an ISRO Scientist
Experience real space communication beyond textbooks. Our workshops led by retired ISRO scientist Shri B. A. Subramani take you through live satellite tracking and signal decoding in just two days.
See our lead instructor, Shri B. A. Subramani, in his element, personally guiding participants and answering questions. His ability to explain complex concepts with clarity and patience is a highlight of our workshops, ensuring every learner feels supported and inspired, regardless of their background.
This flyer highlights the unique opportunity to learn from a distinguished ISRO engineer and Radio HAM. Shri B. A. Subramani's extensive background in space environment simulation and his passion for hands-on education are central to the workshop experience. At the end of the workshop, you receive a certificate signed by him.
About Learn from an ISRO Scientist
Learning isn't just about reading theory; it is about catching the signal yourself. In our workshops, you don't just watch, you physically set up Yagi antennas to capture live data from satellites passing overhead. Whether you are a student or a professional, you will be using actual RTL-SDR hardware and Gpredict software to see how we decode images from space, all under the guidance of someone who worked on the Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan missions.
Bridge the Gap Between Theory and Space
Many think satellite communication is restricted to government labs, but our goal is to show you that it is accessible. Over two days, we demystify how space-to-ground communication works by building an amateur ground station from scratch. You will work with LNA signal boosters and dipoles, moving from basic orbital mechanics to live signal reception.
What You Will Master
- Live Tracking: Learn to track the ISS and NOAA satellites using real-time software.
- Hardware Setup: Understand the signal path, from the antenna orientation to the RTL-SDR dongle connectivity.
- Data Decoding: Take raw audio signals from weather satellites and process them into visual cloud-cover images.
- The ISRO Perspective: Because these sessions are led by a veteran scientist, you get real-world context on payload systems and radio frequencies that you simply won't find in a standard classroom curriculum.
Who This Is For
We keep our batches hands-on with a 1:5 kit-to-participant ratio. This ensures everyone gets a turn on the laptop and the radio equipment. We have had everyone from college students needing practical credits to a 78-year-old hobbyist joining our sessions in Navi Mumbai. You do not need an engineering degree to join, just a curiosity about how data travels across the stars. By the end of the second day, you will walk away with a certificate signed by our ISRO expert and the technical foundation to potentially set up your own ground station at home.
