About this collection

Building a terrarium is as much about plant biology as it is about aesthetics. Whether we are setting up a closed ecosystem that recycles its own moisture or an open-air succulent arrangement, the key is matching the plants to your home's lighting conditions. I teach you how to layer your substrate properly so you leave with a healthy mini jungle that actually thrives long after you get home.

Understanding Your Green Space

Not all terrariums are built the same way. When you join a workshop at our Kasturi Nagara studio, we start by understanding what you want to achieve.

Closed Terrariums (The Bio-Dome): These are perfect for people who love the idea of a self-sustaining ecosystem. By using a sealed jar, we create a high-humidity environment where moisture evaporates, condenses, and waters the plants. We use tropical flora like Fittonia, live moss, and specialized activated charcoal to keep the air fresh. These are incredibly low-maintenance and are great if you want to observe a natural water cycle right on your desk.

Open Succulent & Air Plant Gardens: If you prefer bright, dry aesthetics, open terrariums are the way to go. These rely on airflow and need bright, indirect sunlight. In our sessions, we focus on drainage layers using Leca or gravel to ensure your succulents don't get 'wet feet.' Air plants are a unique twist here—they don't even need soil, making them versatile for geometric glass containers and hanging installations.

Tailoring Your Landscape: Beyond the plants, the fun part is the storytelling. I provide a wide range of miniature figurines, colored sands, and natural hardscaping materials like driftwood and river stones. Whether you want a whimsical fairy garden with a tiny house or a sleek, minimalist geometric setup for your living room, you get to customize every detail.

If you cannot make it to a workshop, I also ship complete DIY kits across India that include the exact materials we use in our studio sessions.
