About Coach's Corner: Technique & Pad Work
Most places will teach you how to throw a punch, but here, we break down the weight transfer and footwork behind it. Whether you are working on your slip, your uppercut, or your counter-punching strategy, I personally fix your stance until the movement becomes muscle memory. You won't just learn to throw punches; you will learn how to cut the ring and control your opponent's movement.
At Gurgaon Boxing & Sports Academy, our approach to technique is simple: if it doesn't work in the ring, we don't teach it. We don't have air conditioning or fancy machines, but we have a standard competition ring and the space to put in real work.
My coaching style is hands-on. In our pad work sessions, I don't just hold the mitts. I look at your rhythm, your stance, and your defensive reactions. If your guard drops when you throw a hook, we stop, correct it, and drill it until it stays tight.
We cover the essentials that every serious boxer needs:
- Weight distribution: Learning how to put your whole body behind every shot.
- Ring generalship: Mastering angles and footwork to control the distance.
- Defensive basics: Drilling the slip, the duck, and the block until you can react instinctively.
This is not a fitness class where you go through the motions. This is training for boxers who want to compete at the state, university, or national level. Whether you are prepping for your first amateur bout or refining your combinations, expect direct feedback, high-intensity intervals, and zero shortcuts. If you are in the Laxman Vihar area and ready to commit to the grind, come prepared to sweat.
